Is the message of Orthodox Christianity dying?

Im trying to find some good resources about this subject, but have only found that these websites seem to attract the Evangelical Christians to make it look like the USA is a hardcore Fundamentalist country.  They pretty much use these websites to preach about the autrocities of the "Signs of the times" at the decline of their religious beliefs.  But most of the people I know today do not seem religious in nature.  I've found that people on the Internet who hang around religious forums, Yahoo Answers, youtube, there seems to be a lot of the Religious ultra-dogmatic fanatics, preaching do as us or be punished.  Yet most people I know do not seem to resemble those fire and brimstone types.  The bible says you become like the god you worship.
