Beloved Servant

Here's the problem:

"Five of you shall chase a thousand, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight" (Lev 26:8),

when doing the math, would you please round-up the world population number to 7-billion people, thanks.

So, I'm not looking for the number of FIVES or the number of A HUNDREDS, I'm curious about the number of individuals.
Thanks in advance.

I'm curious about what exactly you are asking.
That's no funny remark. I really don't understand the question. :dontknow:
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

Beloved Servant

I'm asking how many individuals it would take to put 7-billion to flight using the formula from Lev 26:8

I'm looking for a number.

I'm looking for a number.
Elsewhere the Scriptures say (Deuteronomy 32:30) that one will put a thousand to flight, two will put ten thousand to flight, which to me implies 3 put a million to flight, and so forth so that the exponent is increasing each time:

1 - 1000
2 - 10,000
3 - 1,000,000
4 - 1,000,000,000
5 - 10,000,000,000,000
6 - 1,000,000,000,000,000,000
7 - 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000
8 - 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000
9 - 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000
10 - 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000
11 - 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000
12 -  1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000
13 -  1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000

Above numbers are approximates that I'd have to recheck, but basically, enough to deal with all of the life forms we'd encounter during the reign of Christ Jesus.

Beloved Servant

Thanks, but would you do the first one for me too?

BS,
I think your verse is wrong....
From LXX
Leviticus 26:8 And five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall chase tens of thousands; and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.

The problem with your verse is that the percentage of chasers increased faster than those to be chased.
Unlike the verse Martin quoted.
5 chase a 1000 means 1 chases 200
100 chase 10000 means 1 chases 100

To chase 10 billion you need 6.4 billion chasers.

Don't ask me why but I think the number should be 144,000
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

Beloved Servant

I was just curious as to what the number would be if applied to the current world pop., rounded-up to a more significant number of 7.

Beloved Servant

I actually came up with two different numbers.

Given: Five of you shall chase a thousand, then 1,400,000 chase 7 billion

and

Given: A hundred of you shall put ten thousand, then 7000 chase 7 billion.

That's the point I was trying to make. There are two different ratio's between chasers and the chased.
If you extrapolate that change you get 7 billion are chased by ~8.6 billion
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

QuoteGiven: Five of you shall chase a thousand, then 1,400,000 chase 7 billion
5 chase a 1000 means 1 chases 200. => 7,000,000,000/200=35,000,000 chasers

QuoteGiven: A hundred of you shall put ten thousand, then 7000 chase 7 billion.
100 chase a 10000 means 1 chases 100 => 7,000,000,000/100=70,000,000 chasers

Both verses from LXX

Deuteronomy 32:30 How should one pursue a thousand, and two rout tens of thousands, if God had not sold them, and the Lord delivered them up?

Leviticus 26:8 And five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall chase tens of thousands; and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.

Noticed the red s?
Mean a unknown multiple of 10. So at least 20,000 instead of 10,000
If look at Leviticus and read tens as 20 then suddenly you don't get different answers.
But that's just an assumption I can't prove. (and not trying to either)

Thanks WW
I'm not trying to prove anything either.
I was just sitting here with morning coffee reading scripture when it hit me to do the math, just a passing fancy!

I would say 3 put 100,000 to flight.
Each time a chaser is added 10x more are chased.
1-    1,000
2-  10,000 => 10x 1000
3-100,000 =>  10x 10000

Ignoring the (exact) number; did this verse made you thing of say a unfulfilled prophesy?
Or just curious?

Personally I think the verses only say that having God on your side gives an enormous boost to your army.
Personally I would have found it 'special' if the number was 144,000. So I was curious...
But even with a lot of fantasy I can't even come close.
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

Beloved Servant

No, WW, nothing specific at all.
Just coffee+Scripture+I recently read something about populations=Hey! I wonder...
