Infirmities, sicknesses and all that good stuff

Last night I woke up thinking about Paul and his writings on 'infirmities.'
Now I know that Jesus healed people of their infirmities, and many in the church today believe that God's people are supposed to be healthy (and maybe wealthy and wise, too).

But Paul said something different. He said, "I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me" and "I take pleasure in infirmities" and "of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities" and "I will glory of the things which concern mine infirmities."

Paul was saying that the weaker he was, the better it was! Because God's presence could rest upon him through those things! (---Perhaps THIS is the abiding presence that we're looking for...??)

Could it be that the church is trying to 'bind the devil' when they hear of sickness and weakness, when that's actually GOD wanting to manifest His perfection through His vessels??

We are the temple of God. The Kingdom of God is righteousness, and peace and joy in the Holy Ghost. (Rom.)

Personally, I feel I'm able to see my tribulations in a different way now! Let the trials come! (No, they're never easy or fun..) But if that's God's way to allow His presence to dwell in me, come Lord Jesus!

I can relate to this.

Yes they do cast out the debbul who dunnit and I guess the motivation id to preserve the flesh.

Joh 6:63  It is the Spirit that makes alive, the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit and are life.

True words.  Yet I do agree God does not wish ill upon anyone.  There is a principal of sowing and reaping that cannot be ignored.

When one is not healed, it may be as a result of a poor harvest of tares that was sown.  Many do not discern this.

 :cloud9: I don't know, I haven't looked up the words here, but I wonder if infirmities has two different meanings. Infirmities in one place as literal sicknesses, and infirmities in another place maybe meaning, character imperfections or weaknesses not like Christ? Just a thought as I was reading this......

I think about this as I do with all kinds of infirmities whether physical or soulical. These things are in the world by God design though I do not believe that He micromanages who gets what and when. I, also, believe these things are in the world to be Overcome. I do not think it is spiritual to lay down and accept infirmity as the will of God for your life, but to know it is from God to strengthen us in adversity by overcoming them by faith.

I am with ya brother. He giveth and He taketh away and each infirmity comes with great purpose .......that we might know Him more perfectly and the power of His resurrection.  I have been healed many times when I have just rested in Him.

I have also lost a tooth after a two week toothache and I have this crazy weird crooked finger that I had a compound fracture with and set it myself. I don't know if those would be considered healings but there is a testimony with each.  :happygrin:
