If God is agapē then is agapē is God? :Chinscratch:
I'm gonna go with yes.
The fruit of the spirit is love...............................................
Love is of God.
Can the natural man who does not know of spiritual things love naturally?
:Chinscratch:
Yes but agape love is different from eros (romantic), storge (familial) and philia (brotherly) love. Only God is agape love, unconditional, spiritual :girlheart: :2c:

Carol is a woman--every woman though is not carol
Paul is a man--every man is not paul
Love is an attribute describing the Creator Yah is Love Yah is Merciful Yah is Holy
All attributes to define who he is !!!
I realize the logic of the statement "God is agapē and therefore agapē is God." is flawed logically and I was not really asking whether that form of logic is correct or not(I probably should have used other words where I put "then is"). Keep in mind that IF most translations actually get the "God is love" part of 1 John 4:8 right(if the greek really means that) then that is different than saying God is a kind or type of agapē. I do not think agapē is something humans can have("have" in the sense of having a creator, parent, brother, ect. I do not believe a human can OWN agapē.) without divine intervention. I see it as shared rather than owned or earned. People who speak english(such as myself) should probably get in a habit of being more specific when using the word love by using adjectives(like "brotherly" love) or other words(affection, caring, etc). Thankfully we can tell from context at least some of the time what kind of love people are talking about. Most people do not think that their family means that they feel eros for them when they say "Love you!". I think it can cause confusion if a person says something like "Love is the most important thing in life."which can leave me(and possibly other) thinking "Are they claiming that common affection is most important in life or do they mean something like agapē?"

In my opinion, love is the rain that falls on the just and the unjust. God has given love as a testimony of Himself, in the heart of everyone in some measure.
"The light that lights everyone who comes into the world"
SIn is "missing the mark" of love. These transgressions of love are only visible because of the light that lights everyone who comes into the world.
Forgiveness for missing the mark, whethr by a mile or by an inch, was brought to all through the Christs death on a cross- reconciling all the mark missers to God. The benefit of that reconciliation becoming abundantly theirs whenever they believe in the Savior of the world.
"He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only, but for the whole world's also"(Jn 2)
:cloud9: God is a spirit, and His love IS SPIRIT, not a fickle, conditional, emotion-based desire of the flesh. When it enters your heart, it's like an explosion. One minute it wasn't there, the next second it is, seemingly coming out of nowhere, a ball of fire that rolls away the stone from our tomb. My :2c: Blessings....
Oh I don't know. I think sometimes God's love comes like a gentle breeze or a whisper....even a still small voice maybe :o)

God is love, to me means that he is the embodiment of it. Anything you could want to know about love, you can know through God. But, if I say God is a consuming fire, that doesn't mean that I believe that God is literally a physical fire. To me, "God is love" is a way of emphasizing the definitive nature of God as being the embodiment of love itself, not that an abstract concept like love literally IS God.
