I believe God is always calling to us to surrender our lives to Him, so He can make us part of the Body of Christ....so we can live in the Spirit and not in the flesh.

Personally, I believe in free will......within the perimeters God has designed for our life. I believe we can say NO to God....to say YES, the Holy Spirit will carry us through.

That is a quick summary.

Jesus draws us. As the Spirit of the Son, he is in the Father still. Wherever God is sought, Christ comes into it too. He also had a preexistence and followed Moses in the desert as a rock they all drank from. Father represents the old, Jesus represents the young, and the Holy Spirit represents the ageless.

   I don't think you  do  know it  at first ,,

I did not ,, many of us did not know what was happening   at the time ..

  For , me   and this is just me .. It felt like  being awakened , when  you had been sleeping   real good for a  long while .

I too think God calls to all.. but that many do not awaken to the call, during this life - "many are called but few are eklektos"

If one is wondering about Jesus.. and taking in knowledge of Jesus, then I think they are onto something! (As the saying goes.)

If we believe He is the Son of God, was crucified and rose from the dead, then I believe we are believers.. But I think there is all degrees of "following", different degrees of distance in following.. Although we may 'judge'/perceive by appearance, He knows the heart and motives, etc..

"One can not say 'Jesus is Lord' except by the Holy Spirit".. If we "believe in the heart, and confess with the mouth, 'Jesus' is Lord'.."

Back in the day, I said the salvation prayer.. I believe that works too.. (Cements it to our own perception.) And our "heart cries 'Father, my Father!' the seal (notary) in our heart proving we belong to God" and have been begotten of Him.. adopted.. "and is the pledge" (down payment/guarantee) "of all He has promised.."

Perhaps you have your answer....you are saying you don't want to be a Christian, but you are on a Christian website, talking to us, about how to know if Jesus is calling you.

Sounds to me, like He is calling you.

Question is, how are you going to respond?

God knows you are bi-polar....some of my closest friends struggle with various forms of mental illness, including being bipolar. It not only doesn't stop them from being Christian, but they use the story of
their illness as part of their testimony to how God can call anyone to come and follow Him, and how their strength lies in Him and not in their weakness. They make the best witnesses....those who struggle....which is really all of us.....with one thing or another. Just read the stories of the Old Testament, and see all the struggles that were overcome with faith....even just a little faith.

This is a saying one of my friends likes, who has his own stories of struggles....he says: "Your life is your ministry, and your storm is your message".

So true.

I have had several storms....it makes me a powerful witness, not because of what I've done, but because of what He did, in me.

From 2 Corinthians 12:

5I will boast about such a man, but I will not boast about myself, except in my weaknesses. 6Even if I wanted to boast, I would not be a fool, because I would be speaking the truth. But I refrain, so no one will credit me with more than he sees in me or hears from me, 7or with these surpassingly great revelations.

So to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9But He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me. 10That is why, for the sake of Christ, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

So, my suggestion, Ask, is to go out there and run with your weakness, and watch what our great and almighty God can use you to do for His kingdom, not despite your weakness, but partly because of it.

For through our weakness, His grace and love and strength can be seen.
