I just wrote an article of rebuttals against some Catholics trying to defend their dogma of Eternal torment. Half of the stuff I was defending was so unbiblical and pure nonsense. Lots of specious reasoning.
But specious reasoning is trying to make sense of something that does not make sense. Like trying to reason out that an orange is somehow square.
ex. "The ox moves slowly but the earth is patient"
I also think that Satan used this reasoning when he was tempting Jesus in the desert. He used Psalm 91 for some reason.
