Hi all, thought I'd share something interesting that happened this evening.  I was perusing comments on an article about a terminally ill radio host.   Someone commented he was going to hell.  Someone then responded that hell comes from translation errors, and that God won't burn people forever.    I then commented about "every knee will bow, every tongue confess Jesus is Lord".

Well, my comment was marked by someone as "spam" and deleted.  Several comments made to the "translation errors" guy included things like "you obviously don't know God", "you will get your own tour of hell", and various other "hell is real" comments.    I reposted my comment, adding "following temporary corrective discipline, every knee....."  Don't know if it has also been deleted or not.

I told my wife, "that's the religious about hell".   Gotta have it!
The oldest known manuscripts agree with each other 99% of the time.  The scriptures, accurately translated, Spirit revealed - reliable.   Looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.  Heb. 12:2

Our God, the Father, will have all mankind to be saved. It is NOT a mere desire, or whim, but the outcome of His predetermined purpose within Himself.

"That IN/EN the Name of Jesus every knee shall bow and every tongue confess You are Lord."

Note:

This in NOT perfunctory genuflections "at" the sound of His Name, but rather, union within Him and out of Him.
Are our broadest hopes broad enough? Shall there be a nook or abyss, in all the universe of God, finally unlightened by the Cross? Shall there be a sin, or sorrow, or pain unhealed? Is the very universe, is creation in all its extent, a field wide enough for the Son of God?

FineLinen

Every created thing (pan ktisma).

Every creature in a still wider antiphonal circle beyond the circle of angels (from ktizw, for which see 1 Timothy 4:4 ; James 1:18 ), from all the four great fields of life (in heaven, upon the earth, under the earth as in verse James 3 , with on the sea epi th qalassh added).

No created thing is left out.

This universal chorus of praise to Christ from all created life reminds one of the profound mystical passage in Romans 8:20-22 concerning the sympathetic agony of creation (ktisi) in hope of freedom from the bondage of corruption.

If the trail of the serpent is on all creation, it will be ultimately thrown off. Saying (legonta). Masculine (construction according to sense, personifying the created things) if genuine, though some MSS. have legonta (grammatical gender agreeing with panta) present active participle of legw, to say. And to the Lamb (kai twi arniwi). Dative case. Praise and worship are rendered to the Lamb precisely as to God on the throne. Note separate articles here in the doxology as in Romans 4:11 and the addition of to krato (active power) in place of iscu (reserve of strength) in Romans 5:12 . -A.T Robertson Word Pictures

QUOTE FROM DAVID BENTLEY HART

(what)accounts for the deep emotional need many modern Christians seem to have for an eternal hell ?. And I don't mean those who ruefully accept the idea out of religious allegiance, or whose sense of justice demands that Hitler and Pol Pot get their proper comeuppance, or who think they need the prospect of hell to keep themselves on the straight and narrow. Those aren't the ones who scream and foam in rage at the thought that hell might be only a stage along the way to a final universal reconciliation. In those who do, something else is at work.

Theological history can boast few ideas more chilling than the claim (of, among others, Thomas Aquinas) that the beatitude of the saved in heaven will be increased by their direct vision of the torments of the damned (as this will allow them to savor their own immunity from sins consequences). But as awful as that sounds, it may be more honest in its sheer cold impersonality than is the secret pleasure that many of us, at one time or another, hope to derive not from seeing but from being seen by those we leave behind.

How can we be winners, after all, if there are no losers? Where's the joy in getting into the gated community and the private academy if it turns out that the gates are merely decorative and the academy has an inexhaustible scholarship program for the underprivileged? What success can there be that isn't validated by another's failure? What heaven can there be for us without an eternity in which to relish the impotent envy of those outside its walls?
"I have sworn by Myself, The word has gone forth from My mouth in righteousness And will not turn back, That to Me every knee will bow, every tongue will swear allegiance".Isaiah 45:23

Hi there Darryl. Coming into our Father is a remarkable happening!

The Outcome of Infinite Grace ~Dr. Loyal Hurley

"I was just going into my study when the idea struck me; and the effect was to stop me in my tracks. There in the half-opened door I faced anew one of the old, well-known verses of the Bible, and from that day I have had a completely new Bible, and, an increasingly wonderful God.

Like Saul of old, I had thought that I ought to do many things against this heretical teaching everything but to study it! But on that summer day in 1940, just one verse from the Bible changed my attitude completely; and then, I was ready to study. That verse was one that I had known by heart from boyhood, and one that I had thought I had understood perfectly.

But on that day it struck me afresh almost like a blow in the face. With my hand on the knob, I stood, almost spellbound, and faced the most daring thoughts I had ever entertained. It was some time before I could loosen myself enough to continue on through the door and sit down at my desk. Yet ever since that day, I have had a new vision in my heart and mind, one that is ever becoming more beautiful and satisfying.....

Belief in Hell and people going there is just the ultimate expression of Schadenfreude.
Socrates taught Plato.  Plato taught Aristotle.  Aristotle tutored the son of Philip of Macedon.  This boy grew up to become Alexander the Great, largely by slaughtering a lot of people.  That's philosophy.

Jesus spoke the Truth.  He blessed the poor.  He healed the sick.  He even raised the dead.  He died on a cross for us, lived again, and came back long enough to tell us to love one another.  That's religion.

YHVH = Behold the Nail, Behold the Hand = Jesus

Good grief Laz, I was actually forced to look up the word.

What a wonderful day it shall be when the Lord who is our hope brings unprecedented release in the operation of His enterprise...."behold I make all things new."

hi, Fine Linen....I wonder what the verse was ?.....but yes, same with me...so many verses makes perfect sense now that i'm a UR believer...whereas before when i believed in eternal hell,  they were sense- less.

I have just been posting to a lad who maintains the Scripture is simple. I have been probing these "simple" things for many moons and find  them exceedingly beyond all I can think.  :dsunny:

The last enemy to be destroyed is death! This was the well-known verse that stopped me in the half-opened door that day and directed all my thinking into fresh channels." -Loyal Hurley

Exactly!  If Death is destroyed, then NO ONE can still be dead and/or in Hell.  No one!

Yes Laz, our Father who is the Source of all is the End of all!

"We all must die and are like water spilled on the ground that cannot be gathered up again, but the Lord does not take away life, instead He devises ways for the banished to be restored."

Those who gotta have their hell will find there are four to choose from.

All four are translated from tartarus, sheol, geheena & hades.

Furthermore, the Lake Of Theos/ Lake of Fire, in NOT hell. All four hells have one final destination: consumed in the Lake of God radiating, with theion and theioo.

Good riddance ! !

I was thinking how most Preachers preach that all who do not accept Christ when they die, go to hell. If they could only see their reasoning. Satan is a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour, and is going to and fro in the earth while all that served him are in hell burning.  You would think since Satan is the one who decieved all these people to follow him that he would have to burn longer than any one. Is it fair that someone who didn't accept Christ or tell a lie will burn longer than the one who caused them not to accept Christ? What I am saying is, "shouldn't Satan serve the longest sentance? Shouldn't he burn longer than any one"? Doesn't make any sense.  :dontknow:  I ask a Preacher "why Satan wasn't in hell burning, since he was the perpetrator"? Here Satan is out here running loose and everyone else is being tortured because of him.  :Chinscratch: The Preacher clouldn't answer that question.

good point !...sinners are burning in Hades right now while Satan n his demons are having a whale of a time !..party time !...loving their existence of defying God and leading folks to hell...shows how stupid that ECT belief is !

We are all seriously lacking in our grasp of our heavenly Father. Coming to know Him is a journey in stages that begin with an awakening from Above. I am convinced this is exceedingly abundantly beyond all we can think or even imagine.

The Fire of God is His essence and the end of all He has made. In that "end" there is healing waves of unconditional love, mercy and transformation.

What a glorious God He is!
