Defeating The Domination System

This came from a commentary that i read. Your thoughts please.
Jesus did it- He defeated them. But, they killed Him in the process. It was a combination of the religious domination system joining forces with the Roman domination system. What we don't get or understand is that by NOT defeating the domination system today, it is killing us, though far more slowly. The warnings are there are far back as Isaiah 5:13 and worse yet, Hosea 4:6. Let's see, captivity or death? Neither seems like a way to do life, do they? 


Rome ruled the Jewish homeland by and with the cooperation of the elite priestly class. Elite seems like the wrong word now doesn't it!

But into this mix of religious prejudice and bias came a man who was sold out to a different system- it's was and is called the Kingdom of God. It's not Catholic, it's not Protestant, nor is it denominationalism or non-denominationalism (did you get that?). In this preindustrial agrarian society, the wealthy extracted 60-90% of the wealth generated by the peasant class- from which Jesus came.

He knew the pain and suffering (Heb. 5:8).

Jews tried a little bit of everything; from complete accomodation to outright violent opposition. The last Jewish revolt came around 132-35 CE- and it had begun around 63 BCE. That's 200 years of misery, for lots of people.

But, Jesus took another approach. He didn't resist evil. He didn't fight the domination system. He simply showed the world and all of history how to defeat it. It's the same way that we defeat it today. And, it has the same consequences for each of us, which is why we're not going "there". The ego doesn't like what the "there" does to it- it kills it! You can still make an impact while you are dying, and Jesus has promised us that we can make an even great impact (John 14:12).
