Title: Confessions.
Post by: misszoolander on March 27, 2013, 11:25:56 PM
One thing I do love about the old traditions of the Roman Catholic Church is the idea of confessions.

Confessing out loud, what is lurking in us. However my ideal way of confessing is not with a priest, or a pastor, I think confessing in front of the Lord, and my fellow brothers and sisters is what I am about.

There is something liberating about confessing, it's like we realize and are confronted by the things that hinder us. When we confess it literally feels like the poison is being drawn out of our body. When we confess in front of our brothers and sisters we are taking a stand, we are not ignoring these dark looming thoughts and actions. Dark thoughts are so easy to shut away, but that's the problem..they are not away, they are just sitting there, waiting to resurface. Confessing in front of our brothers and sisters let's them see you. As vulnerable as we are to people's interpretations of us, we are saying this is not OK. I need God's help, I confess.

So as my first confession, I confess to you all, and to the Lord that I am finding it hard to deal with my pride. I get angered easily, and am always finding myself resentful. I have a heart that longs for revenge, and most of the time I can not accept other people's points of view. Lord I need help. Give me strength today and tomorrow to overcome this.

There, it's done. Feels good. Anyone else like to confess?  :Peace2:

MissZ I struggle with resentment as well. And we all do. And we are all loved deeply.  :HeartThrob: :HeartThrob: :HeartThrob:

Thanks for the post and the confession. :)

I had something particular I was dealing with. Finally I yelled out to God ( pretty angrily I might add), "you see! This is who I am!" It took me a few weeks to notice I have not had the problem since. Simply amazing!  I love Him! :rolllol:

16-18 yrs ago..when I was in 'cristendom'  I really was plagued all the time with guilt..partly I think

because they were legalistic..with lot's of commandments of men,as well as we individually did not matter

but the 'organization" is what was important.

anyway...I was pretty low...and was crying in prayer about my sinful state to Him. And I said ,

"God I do love you,and everything you stand for,all that is good and right and noble..but...

I don't think you love me because all these things you say you hate..are in me" I have also prayed..

'why did you make me this way"? and why did you not make us all without sin?

Having been there,I can understand where our brother's and sisters who have been taken captive

of evil spirits that twist gender roles established by God must feel.  And I tell you..they need compassion

and mercy.  Coz we are all in the same boat...good/evil mix and sin in flesh is condemned in us all.

look!  Lord you plant good seed in your feild, from whence did these tares come from?

an enemy hath done this, said the Lord. Let both grow togather until harvest...

Pertaining to gender roles... you can imagine my shock (since I came out of the Baptist religion) when God led me to do something specifically against my husband's will. It was shocking and completely and utterly freeing. NOW, having said that, He has since told me I must submit to him, in love. It is the freedom of the Spirit. Freedom to be a "slave" to the Spirit of the Lord... which is true freedom!!  :cloud9:

I would like to make an analogy (or parable, if you will) between the dreaming and the waking lives.

I remember my dreams fairly well.  In them, all sorts of things happen, I go here, do that, meet this person or that person, talk, write, etc.  Whatever happens, and whatever I feel about it in the dream, it is my total reality.  It does not feel dreamlike.  Sooner or later, I wake up and that reality just goes "poof."  So, if someone rips me off (it happened just last night) in a dream, and I feel anger, resentment, rage or whatever, it doesn't matter, because it is not real, and I will wake up all too soon.

Likewise, in our waking lives, we feel emotions connected with events or thoughts, but as Christians, we know that our here-and-now existence will end (poof) when Jesus the Christ arrives and makes all things new.  Besides emotions being just emotions, I have come to realize that our waking lives, in view of the Glory which lies ahead, are barely more substantial than our dreaming lives.  We live and move in a sort of lucid dream, compared to the greater reality to come.  When I came to this realization, I stopped taking life so seriously, at least my reaction to it.  I have less anger, less frustration, less resentment, knowing that all this shall pass.

As to confession, I suffer from a lack of compassion, but I usually do the right thing in spite of it.

I love it Laz! I often say that too, this life is like a nightmare (it's certainly not always nightmarish but many things are) when compared to "eternity".

I agree Laz, thats kind of my take on it.

You know it never says Adam woke from his sleep, maybe this is all just a nightmare :Chinscratch:

I realize you guys are having a bit of "fun" ... life does seem like a nightmare when taken too "humanly" serious...

Just some ponderings--

In 1 Cor 15 we learn that

Adam, natural, FIRST man;
Jesus second man, from heaven spiritual, LAST  Adam

In Col 1:15, 18 we learn that Jesus Christ is the firstborn from the dead

in Matt 20:16; Mark 10:31; Luke 13:30   first last and last first

so my current opinion is that Jesus last Adam , firstborn from the dead  and Adam first man, last to be risen from dead...   ???????

Psalms 126[song of ascents]    When the Lord brought back the captives of Zion,we were like

men who dreamed. Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy..

....v 4 Restore our fortunes O'Lord, like the streams inthe Negev.   Those who sow in tears, will

reap with songs of joy. He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow[I planted good seed in feild]

will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him[gather my grain into the barn]prble wht &trs

Could be but, 1 cor 15:22-28, mt 5:26 and phil 2:10 lead me to believe that the last out will not be the first in chronologically, but rather the last to bow before the glory of Christ crucified, the hardest adversary, whoever bows the knee just before death is destroyed(because it will no longer be needed because God will be all in ALL  :dsunny:)

For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, after that those who are Christ's at His coming, then comes the end, when He hands over the kingdom to the God and Father, when He has abolished all rule and all authority and power. For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet. The last enemy that will be abolished is death. For HE HAS PUT ALL THINGS IN SUBJECTION UNDER HIS FEET. But when He says, "All things are put in subjection," it is evident that He is excepted who put all things in subjection to Him. When all things are subjected to Him, then the Son Himself also will be subjected to the One who subjected all things to Him, so that God may be all in all. (1Co 15:22-28)

"I say to you, you will not get out of there until you have paid the very last cent." (Luk 12:59)

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
(Php 2:9-11)

Thanks eaglesway... for providing another way for me to look at the first/last--last/first scenario. Of special note to me is the reminder  " ...LAST enemy ... is death." Much to ponder and study.

well, this confession thread...and I hope to relate to you all something the Lord has made me aware of.

   A couple months ago,we had a new poster..that irritated me..for they seemed to be a nit-picker...

making mountains out of mole-hills,imo. The thought come to me........great..we've got an 'exactor"

among us. I found it tedious.   A few weeks passed...anda thought come to me..maybe it's not so

much  an exactor as their trying to be 'precise' in their communication.?  Since then...wonderful changes

have come upon that particular poster.

my attitude was poor......I wasn't bearing up in Love.  I recognize I fell quite short in that matter.

I think I must have an ongoing problem in this are..as He also worked such a thing with me before

in a secualr way..and I come to love very much someone that just drove me bonzo.

I bet there has never been a person on this forum who hasn't been annoyed with at least one other member on a continual basis haha! Sometimes I have to pray and God puts His love in me for the particular person I am having a struggle with. Otherwise I wouldn't be the happy joyful lomarah that we often see posting hahaha!  :girlheart:
