the elected ones chosen for what?!!
to serve ? be light ?
I believe "yes"! To be conformed to His image, to share that light and serve to feed others and point them to Him. Salt and light. And worship, fellowship with Him. Joint heirs, hallelujah!
Thank you for answer :girlheart:
why doesn't he chose some for this job?I guess we will not know that.
Hallelujah jabcat hallelujah !
The Elect of God are chosen to do "good works". Bear fruits of the Holy Spirit described in Galatians 5:22-23.
Also these:
Eph_2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
2Ti_3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Tit_3:14 And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.

I agree, I don't think we can know that now. I think we will realize these kinds of "whys" later. Another reason we should walk humbly and thankfully, and pray kindly for others. Nothing deserved.
Evangelize = share the Good News
2 Cor. 5...And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ: Be reconciled to God.
I like this; Micah 6:8 He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
I think this parable has some relevance(Only with the Spirit of God, of course :)
Mat 20:1 For like is the kingdom of the heavens to a man, a householder, who came out at the same time with the morning to hire workers for his vineyard."
Mat 20:2 Now, agreeing with the workers for a denarius a day, he dispatches them into his vineyard."
Mat 20:3 And, coming out about the third hour, he perceived others standing in the market, idle earth.."
A witness: Psa 46:10 Relax and know that I am Elohim; I shall be exalted among the nations; I shall be exalted in the earth.
2nd witness: Psa_31:17 O Yahweh, do not let me be ashamed, For I have called out to You. Let the wicked be ashamed; Let them be still in the unseen;"
Mat 20:4 And to those he said, 'You also go into my vineyard, and whatsoever may be just I shall be giving you.' Now they came away."
Mat 20:5 Now, again coming out about the sixth and ninth hour, he does similarly." (Notice THREE separate times he tells them to come into the vineyard(Kingdom?)
Mat 20:6 Now, about the eleventh, coming out, he found others standing. And he is saying to them, 'Why stand you here the whole day idle?'"
Mat 20:7 They are saying to him that 'No one hires us.' He is saying to them, 'You also go into the vineyard.'"
Mat 20:8 Now, evening coming on, the lord of the vineyard is saying to his manager, 'Call the workers and pay them the wages, beginning from the last, to the first.'"
Witness:1Ti_2:6 Who is giving Himself a correspondent Ransom for all (the testimony in its own eras),
Mat 20:9 And, coming, those hired about the eleventh hour got a denarius apiece. "
Mat 20:10 And, coming, the first infer that they will be getting more. And they also got a denarius apiece."
Mat 20:11 Now, getting it, they murmured against the householder,
Mat 20:12 saying, 'These last do one hour, and you make them equal to us who bear the burden of the day and the scorching heat.'" (LOF?)
Mat 20:13 Yet he, answering one of them, said, 'Comrade, I am not injuring you! Did you not agree with me for a denarius?
Mat 20:14 Pick up what is yours and go away. Now I want to give to this last one even as to you.
Mat 20:15 Is it not allowed me to do what I want with that which is mine? Or is your eye wicked, seeing that I am good?'"
Mat 20:16 Thus shall the last be first, and the first last." (Notice that Everyone gets into the vineyard. But, the last(few, chosen) will get into it first, and the remaining get in last)
Another thing to note, I read that Revelation 20:5 is a false verse, apparently added in 331 AD - forget the guys name though. Anyways, that verse contradicts other witnesses in Scripture, and has no witnesses for itself to say that the dead are raised AFTER the Kingdom, instead of DURING. Anyways, what else are the workers there for, if not to fulfill that prophesy in?
Isa_26:9 With my soul I yearn for You in the night. Indeed, with my spirit within me I will seek You early. For as a light are Your judgments to the earth, the dwellers of the habitance learn righteousness."
Oh, and if you say the NEXT verse CONTRADICTS it, take a look at the words. Isaiah 26:10 says through FAVOR they will not learn righteousness. Vs. 9 says JUDGEMENT.
Lastly, the Kingdom does not last for 1000 years. It is Symbolic! Instead, Christ reigns until ALL enemies are under His feet!
1Co 15:25 For He must be reigning until He should be placing all His enemies under His feet.

Briefly we can say, they were chosen for the benefit of other people. (I hope)

AWESOME THREAD :HeartThrob: :dsunny:
God blesses you all ........
in some verses say, they are chosen to believe... and eternal life...
Titus 1:1 From Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ. I was sent to lead God's chosen people to faith and to the knowledge of the truth that leads to a godly life.
Act 13:48 When the Gentiles heard this, they were very glad and thanked the Lord for his message; and all who were chosen for eternal life became believers.
Is there really an election like calvinism?
How can we explain these verses?
Acts 13:48 Young's Literal Translation (YLT)
48 And the nations hearing were glad, and were glorifying the word of the Lord, and did believe -- as many as were appointed to life age-during;
Does this help? I don't know what life-age during means, so I could you your help, folks.
D.
Thank you for writing rosered and Dandelion. :HeartThrob:
Yes but It is bothering me that there are so many different translations.which one is right?
I hope calvinism is not right in this regard.
I've read that aionios life means the current life starting NOW and stretching out through the ages...
If all are dead in Adam NOW (symbolic/spiritual death) anyone who is alive now is alive IN CHRIST.
Those of us who have life now in Christ will continue to have this life through the ages ("Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?").
A good refutation to Calvinism:
John Calvin lived in the 1500s.
Are we to believe that 1500 years after Christ, he received divine revelation?
1 Thessalonians 5:8
8and we, being of the day--let us be sober, putting on a breastplate of faith and love, and an helmet--a hope of salvation
Romans 13:11
11And this, knowing the time, that for us, the hour already [is] to be aroused out of sleep, for now nearer [is] our salvation than when we did believe
Romans 8:23
3And not only [so], but also we ourselves, having the first-fruit of the Spirit, we also ourselves in ourselves do groan, adoption expecting--the redemption of our body
Psalm 104:4
4Making His messengers--the winds, His ministers--the flaming fire.
Isaiah 62:2
2And nations have seen thy righteousness, And all kings thine honour, And He is giving to thee a new name, That the mouth of Jehovah doth define.
Revelation 2:17
17He who is having an ear--let him hear what the Spirit saith to the assemblies: To him who is overcoming, I will give to him to eat from the hidden manna, and will give to him a white stone, and upon the stone a new name written, that no one knew except him who is receiving [it].
Revelation 3:5
5He who is overcoming--this one--shall be arrayed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the scroll of the life, and I will confess his name before my Father, and before His messengers.
1 John 4:17
17In this made perfect hath been the love with us, that boldness we may have in the day of the judgment, because even as He is, we--we also are in this world
1 Peter 2:9
9and ye [are] a choice race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people acquired, that the excellences ye may shew forth of Him who out of darkness did call you to His wondrous light
John 6:44
44no one is able to come unto me, if the Father who sent me may not draw him, and I will raise him up in the last day
John 6:37
37all that the Father doth give to me will come unto me; and him who is coming unto me, I may in no wise cast without
John 12:32
32and I, if I may be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto myself
Romans 10:9
9that if thou mayest confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and mayest believe in thy heart that God did raise him out of the dead, thou shalt be saved
1 Corinthians 12:3
3wherefore, I give you to understand that no one, in the Spirit of God speaking, saith Jesus [is] anathema, and no one is able to say Jesus [is] Lord, except in the Holy Spirit
Luke 6:46
46And why do ye call me, Lord, Lord, and do not what I say?
Matthew 7:21-22
21`Not every one who is saying to me Lord, lord, shall come into the reign of the heavens; but he who is doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens.
22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, lord, have we not in thy name prophesied? and in thy name cast out demons? and in thy name done many mighty things?
23and then I will acknowledge to them, that--I never knew you, depart from me ye who are working lawlessness.
Matthew 22:14
14for many are called, and few chosen
Matthew 20:16
16So the last shall be first, and the first last, for many are called, and few chosen
Calvinism is, God chose for 95% of humanity to burn in hell forever. BUT, God still chooses people. Chosen for what? The Kingdom, to do the righteous judgments in flaming fire, to save the world! Read the first post on this thread again for more. But we have to be OVERCOMERS in order to do that, to STILL believe in Christ and do the Fathers will until the very end. The TRUE elect will never fall away, but He does NOT tell us who those are, in order to humble us.
Luke 18:
8I say to you, that He will execute the justice to them quickly; but theSon of Man having come, shall he find the faith upon the earth?'
Oh, He is going to find 2 BILLION FAITH filled CHRISTIANS on His return, right? WRONG! FEW are chosen, not MANY! Many will come to Him and call Him Lord, but Christ never knew them.
Titus 3
7that having been declared righteous by His grace, heirs we may become according to the hope of life age-during
THIS is what the AGE lasting life is.
1 Corinthians 9:27
27but I chastise my body, and bring [it] into servitude, lest by any means, having preached to others--I myself may become disapproved.
Hebrews 10:26
26For we--wilfully sinning after the receiving the full knowledge of the truth--no more for sins doth there remain a sacrifice
If I were DISQUALIFIED, I HAD to be QUALIFIED, yes?
Yes Godislove, I believe in every word of Jesus Christ.
And Yes.calvin dead but the verses were in the bible.
And yes MusicLover123 but This is not my sin.
Please nobody understand me wrong.
I hate all theologies except universalism. But sometimes the verses confuse my head.
Thank you for writing. :girlheart:
I'll give you some advice, then. Just pray for wisdom from God, trust in Him for understanding, and He will give it to you, in His time. We are to not lean on our own understanding, right? (Proverbs 3:5)
1 Corinthians 2:14
14and the natural man doth not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for to him they are foolishness, and he is not able to know [them], because spiritually they are discerned;
So, without the Spirit of God, these things CANNOT be understood. Why? Because it is foolishness(Stupid) to the natural/carnal man. We can only understand these things with the Spirit of God and His wisdom, and NOT the wisdom of man.
Not even just reading Scripture over and over can give you understanding, but only with the Holy Spirit can make this possible.
By the way, I am not saying you don't have the Spirit of God in you, just letting you know the requirements for wisdom and understanding.
Ok. I understand.
I will consider your advice. :HeartThrob:
Thank God I have brothers and sisters like you. I love you (all) so much. :girlheart:
Already always I pray. Please you too..
pray for my life...

How can we explain these verses?
I.M.O there really is an election.
However; the main difference is that the "elected", "ecclesia", "first-born" - whatever term used, means literally they are the "FIRST"-
then "THE REST" will follow at their appointed time. A glorious system for true equality of value.
The Jews demonstrated this principle when making big decisions when they had been called out of Egypt. They cast lot, literal short straw stuff. All to highlight God's direction and involvement so that NO MAN COULD TAKE ANY CREDIT FOR GOD'S WORK.
The Calvinists and others unfortunately say "THE REST" go to hell.
That seems to be the biggest lie recorded in history, which blurs the truth.
Our current state of being in the flesh is temporary, but essential as part of preparing us for the coming Spiritual totality which exceeds the capacity of the flesh beyond the ability to fully comprehend. We get glimpses now, but the coming is indeed awesome.
Nothing can keep us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Calvinists and others deny that statement of truth.

IMO squared, ABSOLUTELY!!! :dsunny:
I spent my whole pre-UR life in the "Armenian"-type camps. I.e., "surely God wouldn't choose just some and send the rest to hell without giving them a CHANCE!". Only until God revealed UR to me, did I understand better where "Calvinism" was coming from. IMO, they absolutely get the election part right, because I believe (now) it's clear as a bell in scripture, when I stopped trying to do contortions to explain it away with the "surely's" (don't call me Shirley).
Obviously (to me) what's detestable about Calvinism (yet understandable, because they sincerely believe they're adhering to scripture) is the whole "most of humanity will suffer eternal torment" thing. However, as I see it, the only difference between Arminianism and Calvinism is, "who" chooses - man, or God.
Now I believe election (though still not fully understanding "why" it's that way) is just what Ross explained, the "order" of things, timing, God's plan unfolding in His timing, etc. EVERY knee will bow, every tongue confess Jesus as Lord, to the glory of the Father.
p.s. Gary gets "accused" of being a Calvinist. But that's just because he actually believes the multiple clear verses regarding election, predestination, the ekklesia, etc., and such as the following - rather than trying to explain them away.
"You did not choose me, I chose you".
"It doesn't depend on him who runs or wills, but on God who shows mercy".
And then ultimately this; "I will draw ALL men unto me".

I identify with your experience. Unanswered questions that lurk in the back of the mind just fester and cause an indescribable emptiness/longing for truth.

Now I believe election (though still not fully understanding "why" it's that way)
I.M.O the election is so that there will be true equality of value and position for all mankind as we will all be there due to Christ's work- so that literally no-one can boast.
Rom 9;11 " For even before they were born or had done anything good or bad, so that God's purpose might stand according to
election."
vs 16 " So then it does not depend on human desire or exertion, but on God's mercy."
vs 23 " And what if He did so in order to make known the riches of HIS GLORY on vessels of mercy, which He had prepared
beforehand for glory."
1 Cor 1;28-31 " God chose the things that the world regard as insignificant and contemptible, what is regarded as nothing,
to render useless the things that are, so that NO ONE CAN BOAST IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD.
BUT, you are of Him in Christ Jesus,
WHO BECAME FOR US WISDOM FROM GOD,
AND RIGHTEOUSNESS,
AND SANCTIFICATION,
AND REDEMPTION,
so that as it is written,
' Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord."
The truth gives total freedom from doubt and possible rejection.
Perfect love literally casts out all those fears.
Stimulates a passion for the future which will be completely changing the life we currently live.
Cannot explain this to those who are not "Called". The flesh does not like the spirit.
Being literally born again is the start of that change to our beliefs and behaviour with the ONE true teacher.
I was not born in the flesh at the same time as my siblings, yet we are still in the same family- just a little hint at the big plan for the rest of the family to come to know as they themselves get to know the truth in their time frame.
