Title: Boundaries with our personal opinions about Hell, with ED and ET folks.
Post by: Dandelion on June 10, 2015, 03:37:20 AM
I hope no one is offended by this one, but, here goes......

I don't think we should say how the concept of Hell is distasteful, and how much we don't like that imagery, when we are telling those who don't agree that there is Christian UR.  I think we should stick to Bible verses, and also showing how it is not in God's character to have a Hell, and so on.

It is different to say it among Christian UR believers, such as on this website.

But, to tell those who believe in ED and ET that WE don't like Hell and its presentation or its effects on people, personally, I believe is clouding the issue.

It is not about what we like and don't like....it is about what God has ordained. We should keep that distinction, IMO.

I hope I am making myself clear. Any opinions on this?

  I agree with you Dandelion , :icon_flower:

For me personally I believe  the best way to explain hell in its concept    and meanings  by the SCRIPTURES
and ask them to please look it up for themselves ...
thee only way a good berean finds out for themselves  , it might lead to them  hungering and thirsting for more proof

Acts 17 Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

None of us here believed it over night I dont think ?? anyone ?        First  the seed is planted[sowed ]   and   watered    ,than it is up to the Lord   God to  add to the increase    , make it grow

I had no idea what Hell was  and come to find out it  was hades the unseen dead and    Gehenna     in the new testament    [age during punishment ]

and a couple of other name  once  tartarus'' the  deep''the abyss

Its not what people think in the general population      , but if they ask     ...
I agree its good to just dwell on the Lords goodness and mercy      , but the questions do come up from time to time  .
Even strangers   , we were at a Dairy queen  with the children ,  and this young lady was grieved    her brother had just committed suicide and she was     in an awful state and

I asked , are you ok hon ?
She   just opened  right up     and   the opportunity to witness come   and shared with her what I had learned    about Gods goodness and what hell means , she was afraid her brother would burn in hell forever

and that just broke my heart   , but by the end of our visit  she was smiling and   thankful  and comforted  ...
freely you have received so freely  give   what   God has  given   , it is for all        the good news of the gospel        in Jesus Christ      :HeartThrob:

I agree that we should be led by the Spirit. Sometimes that means being direct. Sometimes it means just posing some questions. Sometimes it means being graphic. Sometimes subtle- but it always means being repectful- speaking the truth in love.

Dandelion,
Something caught my eye in Eaglesway's response to you: "Sometimes it means just posing some questions".
Some time ago I ran across a great article here at 'The Tent' titled Questions Without Answers.  It lists 213 questions posed with a logic appeal and links a lot of bible passages that match, to self answer the questions.  If you haven't run across it yet, I give it a .  I don't know how to do links like Tom does, but if you copy this address and put it in your browser it will take you to the article:  http://www.tentmaker.org/books/QuestionsWithoutAnswers.html
Tentmaker has so many great resources (besides the people, of course), we are blessed to have access to all this.

Pat
p.s. I just looked at the posting preview, and the address I typed automatically became a link!  Who'd of thought?

I don't think we disagree. I just think we should make it clear what are our own views or personal preferences, versus what we believe God has done, or is doing. We can say our preferences, if it is appropriate, but not use that as a reason for others to embrace UR.

OK, but.................

When I was growing up they told me that the people I loved would burn for all eternity.

The imagery boggled my young mind.

Maybe instead of saying I don't like it, I should say it effects people in a way that should be exposed as erroneous, and is harmful to the Psyche?

Really the only way to talk about it is to tell it like it is.

When you get down to it, you are always going to be talking about the character of God when talking about US, ET, ED.

I don't often bring it up with my mother or family members who are all in Christ, but not universalists.  I'm sure I would make them uncomfortable very quickly.

al I have tp go by is the way Jesus told me. Matter of factly..'you have dragonbreath" Daniel prophesied the saints would be overcome

the saints are the churches.  also the Lamb that spoke as a dragon...you can use these texts in the scriptures to show the

people in the churches how this explains what has happened.[the dragon spewed water out of his mouth to try and cause the woman

to be washed away of the floodwaters.

....then I disclose to them why God has done it this way...in order that no flesh can boast and all be saved by the mercy/grace

of God.

the kingdom of heaven is like...a woman took some leavening and hid it in 3 measures of flour...until all the flour was leavening.

just as Israel being overcome/blinded..resulted in the gospel going to the gentiles. So,too, the overcoming of the Christendom

will result in mercy being shown to all those sinners out there..that the 'churches' like to condemn to eternal torture/annihilation

that God makes all things work unto the good for those that love Him...and that just as ALL men have bore the image of

the corrupt,so,too, shall all men bear the image of the incorrupt one.

matter of factly speaking it[truth] and not condemnatory .  now the beast is what exposes the harlot and her hypocrisy

and devastate her[for our sakes] but don't think that beast is the spirit of the Lord..for the spirit of the Lord..when He catches a

woman in the act of adultery says..let he who is without sin cast the first stone..and woman where are you're accusors

and neither do I accuse you...'go an sin no more[do not miss the mark of the great love God has for men/nor the complete faith

that what is impossible with men[not many saved] that ALL is possible with God

don't mistake the exposing of the nakedness of Christendom/harlot/adulteress  as the Beasts job...FOR THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST

for that is the beam/log in your eye..first remove that from your eye..then ye can see how to remove the splinter from your

brother's.

I told you to get some Spring Mint at Walmart for that "dragon breath," sis.

When it comes to "hell," I just tell it like it is. It's a lie supported by forgery in the translation of scripture. That's not my opinion. It's the truth that can be seen right there in an accurate translation of scripture. Check out the attached screenshot of a comparison of accurate and inaccurate translations in the Interlinear Scripture Analyzer, and see for yourself.

Then, instead of beating around the bush about it, you can just turn folks on to my video.

We should be prayerful always and do our best to follow his lead in love and humility.  I personally do not like offending anyone and I am shy...but I have said SOME very derect things that some probably got very offended by. Sometimes He may require it of us. remember we cant open eyes, but He may use us to do so.

I would say, "Yes. That is true".  Sometimes we must be direct, and sometimes people will be offended. But always we should be gentle, speaking the truth in love, so that our flesh is not the cause for the offense.

The "dragon breath" thing was something she mentioned in the post and brought up awhile back in another post where it was a humorous experience she had.

Tom, I know what you meant cuz I've read all this thread. Plus i've read enough of your posts to know you wouldn't be insulting anybody. And I also remember the thing Shiella wrote about God telling her she had dragon breath. I know what that is and it smells terrible but walmart doesn't have the cure for it.  :dsunny:
