Title: Be careful what you ask for.....
Post by: whyiloveitaly.com on February 06, 2008, 02:04:39 PM
..because you just might get it.

This saying has come to mind recently.

For the last year or two, I've been more and more convinced of the all-powerfulness of God. That He does all things according to His purpose.

"So why pray?" one might ask.

Well, I've been praying and asking the Lord to lead me into a closer walk with Him, to do what He wants to with me, and to make me well pleasing in His sight. In other words, to make me more like Him.

Know what? For the last few months I've been experiencing anxiety attacks, something I've never experienced before!

Is it of God? I believe so.

Why?

Because I'm having to lean on Him every day and every hour.

And now I actually am appreciative of the anxiety when it comes, because it helps me remember how much I (and the whole world) depend on Him for life.

Paul wasn't sure if it was better to live or die. He wanted to depart!

Maybe that's where we all need to be going....? Totally prepared to meet Him!

THAT'S the blessing, isn't it?

Love to all,
Brian

Hey Brian!!!

God bless you..................

Job 28 again comes to mind.

The "vein" where "gold" is fined.

A vein no vulture would choose, but God in His WISDOM uses it to "make YOU see"
what is in you...........
what He can already see.  Stones of darkness in the heart turned to sapphires.
Dust turned to gold.  And how so? thru fires.

So......you are right.  Therefore "glorify" the Lord in the fires!

And keep your eyes on the gold...........

whyiloveitaly,

I can sure relate to what you said. I ask God for patience, I prayed for this continually. One day about 12 years ago, I got mama who had Alzheimers. Talk about needing patience!!!, boy did I find out I didn't have as much as I thought I had.  :mshock:  I took care of mama for 12 years, last year she passed away at 92, I miss her dearly and I still feel that I lack the patience I need but Im afraid to ask for any more.

But I bet you're a different person now..!
I don't know how it is to have to take care of someone 24-7. I bet it isn't easy. And Alzheimers must be terrible. Especially within one's own family.

I've asked the Lord to free me of the anxiety. Apparently that's not on the agenda for me yet. But that's okay. (Actually, I'm kinda' starting to like suffering!  :mshock:)

Hi Brian, I use to pray for the truth, when I released that prayer I was wanting the truth about God and life what I got was the truth about myself.  One morning I had a huge panic attack and then I lived with high anxiety for close to a year, it was incredibly painful.  I thought God was punishing me, actually trying to destroy me and even though I didnt consciously believe in hell, it was bought to light, to my attention that I did very much believe in a punishing God that would turn me over to the darkness.  Anyway what I "got" from all that was that God revealed my lie's to myself, my pretense of faith, my pretense of happiness, my pretense of being invulnerable and on and on.  It felt like I was being destroyed but it was the lies that were being destroyed or being brought into my awareness, beliefs are so powerful we hold onto a belief and think that it is part of us, who we are.

Gosh..that really rings true with me as well! I think people who haven't experienced them don't always understand. It sure has been helping me turn to Him, all day long at times! (And isn't that the way it should be for all of us anyway??)

I really feel that suffering is part of our growth. It's not fun, that's for sure. Except that it "pushes" us to Him!

You really blessed me with your post! Sharing is really nice sometimes..  Thanks!
