Jud 1:6  messengers also, those who did not keep their own principality, but did leave their proper dwelling, to a judgment of a great day, in bonds everlasting, under darkness He hath kept,

In my opinion, were we to read the word messenger, mans imagination would not have created the stories we have today about angels. This is just a thought and my examples were just random save for Jude.

There is also debate that when the OT says "the Angel of the Lord" that it was a christophany since it appears in the flesh and Christ is the only one from heaven that had a body of flesh... and I don't think he didn't get his body till later... otherwise he couldn't have been "slain from the foundation of the world." :dontknow:

I had a few minutes so I checked my notes on angels/messengers and found some more Scriptures:

Gal 4:9, Col. 2:8; 2 Pet 3:10,11 that seem to me to be addressing the material/physical world (heaven and earth) discussed in Rom 1:20 and Psalm 19:1-4 that seem to me to be telling us that they were God's first "messengers"... anyway, at this point I am still searching and learning and perhaps changing my "opinion" a few times.  I do find it a very fascinating study and wish I had more time to pursue it.

I think angels CAN be messengers but not all are. Archangel Micheal surely is able to relay a message but it isn't his primary job description.

Just look at the names of 4 of 6 archangels (EL means God)

MichaEL – Warrior prince of God
GabriEL – Redeemer of God
RaphaEL – Healer of God
UriEL – Light of God

Doesn't look like Micahel's function is to be  messenger.
He's like you.

BTW 'vet' in Dutch means fat  :laugh:

According to Jewish understanding the main messenger class are the  Seraphim angels. Burning or healing angels. They are also seen as fire falling from heaven.

All that said I think most often the angels mentioned in the Bible are Seraphim.
