Last year I began seeking the Lord to truly understand the Book of The Revelations. My husband and I have the New Testament on CD to play in our cars as we drive. I had listened over and over and over ---! I have been in the church all my life, mostly Pentecostal and heard so many different interpretations including Historicist and Futurist.
I was truly crying out to God for the truth, when I found an e-book advertised of the title "The Most Embarrassing Book in the Bible" by Dr Andrew Corbett from Tasmania, Australia. I cried as I read it, for it was so well researched and brought truth to the foreground. It is wonderfully liberating and a real blessing to study. And believe me, it is a study and a half - but oh so good! A word of encouragement I hope from Lorraine.

I believe(imo) we need to read and receive the Revelation of Jesus Christ as a POSITIVE book. :dsunny:

Micah, please read the book and you will realize that I am recommending a study that is as liberating to your understanding of The Revelation of John as the Tentmaker studies are liberating in understanding the depth and profundity of the Gospel of Christ.
In no way am I saying that The Revelation is a negative book. What I am saying is that there is a correct interpretation.
The title of the book is meant to grab your attention to the author's statement and cause you to be curious about what he has to say.
The Revelation is of course not embarrassing when correctly interpreted. When it does become embarrassing is when Christians try to explain it to others or non-Christians from an incorrect understanding or wrong teaching. Read the book & may you be blessed as I was.

I only made the statement that the Book of Revelation is a positive book, no mention did I make that it was negative. Sorry :HeartThrob:

I went to the link and did not buy.  When does Revelation Chapter 13 happen according to the author?

hi! when I talk the Bk of Rev to non Christians they understand it, but to Christians, they don't.. I figure it has to be the peak and 'end' of the story (of human history as wandered from God, the same story of every life, every nation and all peoples - that i.e. it doesn't and can't work, wandering from God that is, who is Life itself, surely?)

(imo) - About 13:13, can anyone see that it occurred in 1945? and we are now in the pause of Rev 7:1, the 6th seal being the same event as 13:13 - but the seals are described as a blend of what they are at their first and what they are in their full blown maturity (or gallop) - this of course confused the vision, for events which occur very late are described here, in chapter 6, so early on in the narrative..

i believe the pause of 7:1 (man's splitting of the atom for warfare) will be broken by limited use, but will signify an escalation of 'end' time events (drought, world governance, 5 months marshll law, etc) - but then a more fiery use of it at the very 'end' when Jesus returns with fire and angels..

thanks for posting the link, i may get time to check it out! :laughing7: :dsunny:

Some things caught my eye.. in the left column, haven't looked at the links tho..

"Is erotica in it?" ( i would say yes, capitalism embraced it and became the global economy and seduced all nations, made the merchants wealthy, the politicians are in bed with 'her', etc.. and the flood/proliferation of 12:15 - also the greek "harlot" is the word "pornos" and "to sell" and the ten kings/toes,horns,divisions/socialism, of the last hour will devour her/capitalism, finally-17:16)

"Is the U.S. in it?" - 12:14 two wings of an eagle to fly (sail, imo) to a new place, a 2nd for the most part migration of the faith/truth - and of course the office which carried out 13:13 which persuaded the world to rebuild the many headed world beast/body

"Jesus & Islam" - imo 20:4b

"the prophetic nature of O.T. feasts" -

But I still think the best way to understand the Bk of Rev is to simply read it w/o interpretation, prayerfully and with an eye to the world, what is in it, history, present trends and the most powerful influences upon mankind..
