I am being quite upfront when I ask this question, what is the day of the Lord as to what is called the millennium by some or as the Bible calls the 1000 day reign of the Lord?

I have never worried about it to much because I always took it to mean the day of tribulation and as Jesus said, no one knew when that would be, not even the Son.

Atonement Day was/is called Day of the Lord by Jews. It's a yearly returning event. This year it will be on September 13/14.
It's judgement day.
Likely your question will be: Does that day last 1000 years.
Not very sure about that. Most events in Revelation are short. Judgements like bowls, trumpets are poured out but they are of short duration. Jesus returns and totally crushes satan's forces in a blink of an eye. So from that perspective I would say it's much shorten than 1000 years. But elsewhere we read it takes Jesus' 1000 year to fully submit everyone and everything. So perhaps that period of submitting can also be called judgement....?
The number 1000 is symbolic of a long period of time, or a large amount of something. The reference to 1000 years in Rev 20 is brief, yet it's been made to be a time of God's Kingdom on earth by some, when really it's just referring to this period of time we're in now, this wicked age, as Paul puts it, between Christ's ascention and His return. The verses around it do not paint a picture of a pleasant world, but suffering and tribulation.
An example from the OT, Psm 50:10: "He owns the cattle on 1000 hills..." but not the little beasties on hill 1001! :laughing7:
