The Kingdom of God, is it only within? Will we be body-less?

The view I get of the life to come in the kingdom of God is a deathless life in a perfect body, enjoying your own fig tree and grape vine - a life of simplicity, peace, and contentment.

Reminds me of the time Arnold Schwarzenegger (circa 1978) was speaking at an event  and I was backstage while Arnold was waiting to come out. We talked awhile(I was ET then and finally said, "Ya know Arnold, when I get to Heaven I'll have a body like yours."
He replied, "I'm an atheist so I guess you think I'm going to hell?" I replied, "In a way. I think when you die, you'll have a body like mine - won't that be hell?" He did one of his booming laughs and walked out on stage.

I always thought the kingdom of God was the 1000 years that Jesus reigned here on earth. I thought he/God talked about what it would be like during this 1000 years of His kingdom such as in Isaiah 43 Isaiah 45:17-25 Isaiah 49

Isaiah 11:6-16The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and young lion and fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

Verse 9) They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the weaters cover the sea.

I don't think any of these things have happened yet.

One of my favorite scripture verses!

Absolutely, and I love those verses.. But, I especially agree with "I don't think any of these things have happened yet."

I also think the body of Jesus is not perfect [00ps! make that the 'church' is not perfect, how embarassing to be such a dummy! ] nor pure, until His return which is when immortality and in-corruption is "put on".

And, I very much believe it will all literally happen. In the flesh/matter. A real earth, a real universe.. real fruit trees, literal animals.

Mentioning Jesus having an imperfect body Marie. :dontknow: I think that is no longer true for him. I believe he has indeed put on (again)(Phillipians) immortality with his return to the Father. IMO, his perfect immortal body has something man made in heaven. -yes, the scars in his hands and feet and side... He had doubting Thomas touch him, look at his hands, touch his side. It was a corporeal body. When the disciples were in the boat and they thought they were seeing a Ghost - "Do not be afraid, a ghost does not have a body of flesh and bone(not blood) as you see that I have. Not to mention eating fish with the disciples shortly after he rose from the grave.
At least one of the disciples said that they had seen him with their eyes and handled him (prolly a group hug) :laughing7: :Peace2:

Matthew 13
44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

This may be an unconventional point of veiw. IMO, the "kingdom of heaven" is... God. Just like now He can be in you and outside of you simultaneously. Just as he is inside of time and his creation yet, at the same time outside of both. There, now it's all cleared up> :laughing7:

Certainly what you wrote is true, for God is and will be even more so "all in all" and "in Him we live and move and have our being"..

"In the beginning God.." which leads me to believe He is life itself, the life force.. And is the only life there is.. (which, imo, is an important thing mankind is learning)

And what you wrote reminds me (just my :2c: ) of how Jesus said "there are some here who will see the Kingdom in power" and next was the transfiguration, which concluded with the words "and they saw Jesus only".

Mark 4

30 And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?
31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth:
32 But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.

Jesus did say "the Kingdom of God is within you". I was wondering though, could the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Heaven be two different Kingdoms?

To me, it's like thinking there may be a different "GOD" depending on whether you mean God the Father or God the son, Jesus. :Peace2:

I'm sorry Ded, I was referring to different Kingdoms not different God's. This world is a kingdom I believe and many times the Kingdom of God and Kingdom of Heaven is mentioned, I just wondered if the Kingdom of God wasn't what would be manifested during the 1000 years while the Kingdom of Heaven is in heaven. Maybe this sounds crazy, I don't know?

I meant it as, IMO, all of creation is God's kingdom, God's heaven. If all evil was removed at this time, only the few that are trusting in the shed blood of Jesus to shelter them, cover them and their sins, would still be here.
Maybe it's like now is God's Kingdom and then when all evil is removed it's God's heaven. I don't know either :dontknow:

God is not contained in time, the universe, or His kingdom.  Remember that a kingdom consists of four things:

a King
a piece of real estate
a body of Law
subjects

Take any of the four away, and you arguably do not have a Kingdom.

That's what I thought I said Laz - God is inside and outside his creation and time and us.
To me a kingdom is a King and subjects and that's all.

I thought you were saying that God is the Kingdom, period.  You at least forgot the real estate (the universe).

Hello Marie Glen,

This popular and misunderstood scripture does not negate the other 68 scriptures that say the exact opposite. Check out this article for a good explanation of the word "within":

http://www.ucg.org/bible-faq/kingdom-god-within-you

This article will give you a complete understanding of the Kingdom of God - and who will be selected:

http://ernestlmartin.com/kingdomofgod-firstresurrection.htm (http://ernestlmartin.com/kingdomofgod-firstresurrection.htm)

I hope this helps.

Flesh and blood will not inherit the kingdom of God. We will have spiritual bodies.

As a soul learns more about Divine sacrificial Love, then that soul learns more about the Kingdom of God which is: "...far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come..."

It is not a "place" as such.

Let people joust with their words and manmade theories - if that's what they need to do. Follow Christ instead, it's generally too simple for the mind of man.

15Why I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love to all the saints, 16Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; 17That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, 20Which he worked in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 21Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22And has put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23Which is his body, the fullness of him that fills all in all.   Eph 1

For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.  Rom 14

17And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject to us through your name. 18And he said to them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. 19Behold, I give to you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. ... Luke 10

And he said to them, "Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see that the kingdom of God has come with power."

--Mark 9:1

"simplicity" - I think simplicity is where it's at.. a spiritual body.. and also literal fulfillment.. I can't think of this beautiful creation as some sort of mistake.. God is creating paradise and is simply building the foundation, which is full understanding in every heart and mind of what is life from death, i.e. good from evil.. and true from untrue..

The paradise He is building will be un-breakable after this all important and crucial lesson has been fully learned by all..

I believe in yield, yield, yielding unto God.. once we get to the floor of our being in yielding, we can then begin to tear up the floorboards.. It's all grace; and law mixed with grace robs the whole process (grace) of it POWER.. If we are written in God's book of predestination, it's just that too.. all God.. All His Grace and choice.. lest any could ever boast... His will is impossible to limit. "In that day He alone will be exalted" Isaiah 2:

Jes thinkin' 'out loud' :girlheart: praising God for His great wonderfulness, perfection and the utter perfection to come which is His blueprint.. what He is building and will have

"the lion will eat straw like the ox the bear will graze with the cow" Is 11:7
"His Kingdom will never end" Luke 1:33

My understanding is this passage is referring to Pentacost, when the Holy Spirit was given.  The kingdom of God has come, but has not been consumated - that will happen in the age to come.  Bear with me, still regurgitating my reformed theology - but for now, it still makes sense to me.

aWeSoMe!! I never thought of that! I have always thought the next verses.. "six days later He and two went to the Mount of Transfiguration".... >"and then they saw, He alone.."

Have thought this to be "seeing the kingdom come with power" but I can see the "with power" most definitely describes "Pentecost"...
..thanks! I like having a (much) better understanding of it!
