What is it sheila, that's what I'm asking. :dsunny:
Is it not a (hopefully) large book in which are written the names of all those fit for life in the Kingdom after the first resurrection? :2c:
Perhaps, I believe the Book of Life is Jesus Christ. :dsunny:
well,He said 'I AM THE RESURRECTION" and the Father has granted me life in myself....thus I said..it is all men raised up in Jesus Christ........
in the parable of the sheep and goats..when He seperates the people..He says...come inherit the Kingdom prepared for you..this also
fits in with your comment,Laz
He also said 'ye have no life in yourself[law covenant that condemned sin in all flesh] the life we have is from He who lights the candle of every man

Perhaps, it's really a book.
Probable not, since the Revelation is highly symbolic, and God doesn't need any book to keep up with anything.
It is a book.
It is the registry of the citizens of Zion.
And of Zion it shall be said, "This one and that one were born in her";
--Psalm 87:5
Of course, I used to think there was only one name in the book, Christ. And, maybe that's true, too.

That is very plausible! That great insight. :dsunny:
Good question!
I think this regarding the book of Life. I reckon the Bible to be an excerpt from the book of life, detailing the life and testimony of many of the saints. My name doesn't appear in the Bible but Abraham's does. The Bible is still being written. There are errors in the Bible that have occurred through the ages but the original autographs are perfect. Our names will be found in there. Jesus said to Peter "Rejoice not that the demons obey you rather rejoice that your name is found written in the book of life".

Revelation 20
11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books.
The other book must be the Law but I could be wrong. The books are each of our lives possibly?

Upon what scripture do you base this?

In Romans 2 it says ".....on the day God judges the secrets of mens hearts through Jesus Christ as my gospel declares."
I think the books are the records of our consciousness/conscience, being written evry day, concluding at the end of our lives.
Okay, I'm just wondering how many accept and believe The Book of Life is an actual book?
I believe and accept the Revelation of Jesus Christ is a spiritual writing revealing how Jesus is at work in my life. He reveals in me my faults, my weakness, I, try attempt to hide what is true in my life, past and now, since the Father dragged me to my Savior. The words cause me to deny my hiding, and then succumb peacefully to the truth and in my case, shame for thoughts and deeds, which I attempt to hide, but I cannot hide from HIM.
I do not look at the Revelation as a prophetical book of what will happen in the world, but what it reveals in my life and the war within my walk. As I believe that same message is given unto the church [ekklēsia] His body, as believe all seven churches are one...ME as well as all.
So I find the Book of Life is Jesus, for me He is the Recorder and He has me and all my works, good and bad, written in His heart . That's why I stand on these words.....
Mic 7:8 Thou dost not rejoice over me, O mine enemy, When I have fallen, I have risen, When I sit in darkness Jehovah is a light to me.
Mic 7:9 The indignation of Jehovah I do bear, For I have sinned against Him, Till that He doth plead my cause, And hath executed my judgment, He doth bring me forth to the light, I look on His righteousness. :dsunny:
IMO, the word, for one thing..... it is scroll. it simply represents a quantified store of information, the secrets of the heart and the actions and words of a life that came forth from the well of the heart. As to what form it will actually take in that day? many things are written, none too specific....... it is God's file format, we will see it when the time is right :o)
So you have no thoughts, right?
I could speculate, but why? "Then the books were opened....." "All things are open to Him with whom we have to do"....."I am He that tries the reigns and the hearts"

I received this a long time ago, by revelation. This was at a time when I was questioning the authority of the Bible. Then the Spirit opened my eyes and showed me what Jesus had said to Peter and the others which rhymed with the scriptures in Revelation where the books were opened. What Jesus spoke to Peter was timeless, the Alpha and Omega and Peter was given great comfort in that, just as we are, by the Spirit. This was my experience and the fruit was good, so I ate it.
Regards
Jock

To me, it seems as though a "Book of LIFE" would be just that, the book of all living.. truly living, which is to believe in Jesus.. the Lamb's Book of Life.. within which all who believe in the Lamb of God are registered..
Revelation 20 says the Book of Life is opened and other books.. the other books I would think to be the record of happenings and events.. perhaps each life/person has a 'book'.. "and they (2nd resurrection) were judged out of those things written in the books..
But the Lamb's Book of Life seems to me to be a book/scroll, especially the Lamb's..
This leads me to wonder when the Book of Life gets 'closed'...?
Much is assumed because Jesus told the pharisees, unless they repented, they would die in their sins.. but did He say, or does this mean all hope is lost? Or merely that to be raised still in your sins is (for a time?) inferior to the 1st resurrection which shall be the "putting on of incorruption and immortality"? (i.e sinlessness/perfection) :2c:

"To me, it seems as though a "Book of LIFE" would be just that, the book of all living.. truly living,..."(Marie glen)
Now are you not saying the very words that I was given?
Joh 14:6 Jesus saith to him, `I am the way, and the truth, and the life, no one doth come unto the Father, if not through me;
Act 17:28 for in Him we live, and move, and are; as also certain of your poets have said: For of Him also we are offspring. :dsunny:
when Moses had proclaimed every commandment oof the law to all the people...he took the blood of calves
togather with wter[blood and the water]scarlet wool[though your sins be as scarlet yet they become white]
and braches[ THE BRANCH] of hyssop................
AND SPRINKLED THE SCROLL AND ALL THE PEOPLE.......THIS IS THE BLOOD OF THE COVENANT
........IN FACT THE LAW REQUIRES NEARLY EVERYTHING BE CLEANSED WITH BLOOD....AND WITHOUT
THE SHEDDING OF BLOOD THERE IS NO FORGIVENESS...
IT WAS NECESSARY THEN FOR THE COPIES OF THESE HEAVENLY THINGS TO BE PURIFIED WITH
THESE SACRIFICES.....BUT THE HEAVENLY THINGS THEMSELVES WITH BETTER SACRIFICES THAN THESE
BUT NOW HE HAS APPEARED ONCE FOR ALL........
AT THE END OF THE AGES TO DO AWAY WITH SIN BY THE SACRIFICE OF HIMSELF
JUST AS MAN IS DESTINED TO DIE ONCE
AND AFTER THAT TO FACE JUDGEMNT,SO CHRIST WAS SACRIFICED ONCE
TO TAKE AWY THE SINS OF MANY PEOPLE
AND HE WILL APPEAR A SECOUND TIME
NOT TO BEAR SIN.....BUT TO BRING SALVTION
TO THOSE WHO ARE WAITING FOR HIM[the dead are judged Rev 20;11]
ps the Better covennt..is 'another book" the Kingdom of the love of the son......it keeps no record of
offense..it is all about forgiveness and the calling of those condemned to death back to Life.[2 Cor 3;6]
through this better covenant all men aare declared righteous through the Christ[for through one man
sin entered..and all men judged and condemned as sinners,so,too, through one righteous one..all men
receive free gift]
there will be a seperating of the people..when He appears 'apart/seperate" from sin......
the old man of sin[who shall deliver me from this body undergoing this death] the son of perdition
[the one doomed to destruction with the breath of His coming] shall go off into everlasting cutting off
and lose his position in heaven...goat as wicked generation that perishes in wilderness and does not
enter into the promised land/kingdom of heaven.........
and the sheep of His pasture[new creature in Christ] shall inherit the Kingdom prepared for them
Ezekiel 20;36 As I judged your fathers in the the desert in the lnd of Egypt,so will I judge you,
declares the Sovereign Lord. I will take note of you as you pass under my rod[He shall judge the nations
with a rod of iron/shatters clay vessel marred[sin]] And I will bring you into the covenant...I will
PURGE you of those who revolt and rebel against me...although I will bring them out..yet they will not
enter[secound resurrection of righteous and wicked..where Jesus seperates the people]
the first shall be last....first the ntural man[of sin] then the last Adam..life giving spirit......thus
the first resurrection is for the spiritual man/new creature in Christ...the secound resurrection...is
for those 'who were first" the carnal natural man of sin...who was condemned[it is no longer 'I' but
the 'sin' that dwells in my flesh...thus it is the seperating from sin..the body of our death..that is not 'I'
or the new spiritual creature.......'if you had not plowed with my heifer.....an enemy hs done this....
sowed tares in the night....Jude 1;12-13 the twice dead
Umm, have we wandered off the subject? I thought we were speaking about the book of life? Anyways, don't matter, I gave my two cents worth :2c:
