Rev 15:2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.
The saints standing on the sea of glass, mingled with fire. Is this the Lake of Fire that they are standing on, having overcome the works of the flesh by the power of the Holy Spirit?
To me, the sea probably symbolizes people, the masses of uncalled:
Isa 60:5
Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.
Revelation 17
1 And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters....15 And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.
It could be that the reason the saints are symbolically placed on top of the sea could be similar to why the whore of Babylon stands on a sea. It shows a level of dominance combined with the "fire" a symbol of judgment.
Revelation 2
26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: 27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
1 Cor 6
2Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 3Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?
:cloud9: My :2c:....the priests used the brazen sea. It speaks of judgment to the flesh, so I would see to stand above one that is "glass" as in smooth and undisturbed, ie. no longer in use/not needed, is to say that they overcame all and no more judgment is needed for the flesh. Blessings...
I believe the Greek text also allows it to be translated as "by/at the sea". They sung the song of Moses Exodus 14:31–15:21 which was originally sung by the people after they crossed the sea and were standing on the shore.
Scholars have some disagreement on the correct translation of the verse. Crystal, glass or even ice. Ice is also a possible interpretation of the Red Sea crossing.

That is interesting, I've not heard of the "ice" theory before. Although I think that would be just as much a miracle as the see opening, not to mention all of Pharoh's army then breaking through the ice and drowning!
One of my thoughts about the sea of glass was that the sand was turned to glass. This could happen from a nuclear blast, the heat melting the sand into glass.
I don't really think it means that, but that thought did pop into my head. :dunno:
It would be just as hard to protect them from radiation as it would be to cause the water to stand up and the sea floor to go dry. Miracles regardless ;o)

It's all a bit, well... totally against what was ever written on the subject. But still some points to think about.
Another thing is that king Solomon (likely) had a literal sea of glass in his throne room. The floor was made of glass.
