Specifically, all the stuff in Ch. 3 regarding the address to the church at Sardis. Any information and insight you can provide, (including historical) with regard to "UR interpretation" will be helpful. I don't mind an exhaustive explanation, as I like it when you're as complete as you can be. Thanks!
Anyone else is welcome to offer insights as well.
Well, I know what my wife was after, now. :laughing7: Her bible study leader set the notes up in such a way as to suggest that we should read the promise to the overcomers at the Sardis church that we can have our names blotted out of the book of life. That is a very "traditional" and glass half-empty way to look at it. :sigh:
Doc
Martin hasnt been around for a few days Bud...Which is so UNLIKE him...
Yeah, I know. Seems like he normally posts on here daily... :dontknow:

Perhaps so, judging from his new website. :laughing7:
He's gone where no man has gone before.
Also I just remembered...YY called Martin 'Marvin' a couple days ago...that could make him Marvin the Martian http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvin_the_Martian
We better hope Martin's still alive, otherwise we'll feel really bad giving him trouble when he's not around...
Beam back in Marvin.
He's floating on a cloud now :cloud9:
And judging the weather here he is weeping. Likely because he still reads at TM :laughing7:
Martin an martian, only one letter difference. Hummm :Chinscratch:
Well, now we know what happened. Kinda hard to have an internet connection when your house is in flames...
Martin has a laptop with wireless internet :laughing7:
Now stop laughing at the the sorrow of Martin.
It's a very bad thing when your beer isn't cold anymore :sigh:
Mind if I throw my name in the hat on this???
4 You have a few names even in Sardis who have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with Me in white, for they are worthy. 5 He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.
6 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."'
The Faithful Church
For me, the book of life is not heaven . . .but it's my identity. Those who overcome their flesh are clothed in white . . .they become what they behold . .they are clothed in purity and walk "with" him . . .which is where? Spirit? or Flesh??? For me . . .it's spirit. When we overcome our flesh . .when our spirits take captive our carnal thoughts and imaginations, we become purified and our vision becomes clear . . .our names . . .my name is my identity . . .are not blotted out . .the carnal thinking mind will make a jump to "Oh, then there are names that do get blotted out . . ." But that's not what's being said here . .. this is an affirmation . . .a confidence in Christ builder . . .names do not get blotted out . . period. There is no place in Scripture indicating that if you don't "do" this, then your name gets erased from "that".
The book of life, for me, is where all things are seen in their purest form. When I overcome my flesh . . .my perspective changes from carnal to spiritual . .from death to life. And it becomes my identity . . . my name is in it.

Yeah, Nathan, I see that now. Back when I started this thread I didn't have as much understanding of this as I do today, but what you've said here makes perfect sense to me.
