Okay, here's a weird one! At the end of Matthew 24, Jesus says the servant found of Him at His return, drinking with the drunken or beating up on fellow servants will be cut in two! :mshock: ! He will cut him in two!
Reading that today, I decided to look the phrase up on biblehub's interlinear with the Greek definition, and yes it does mean cut in two or pieces or slaughter.. but also can refer to alienation.
And reading a little further, not only did I se the word basically had one usage - and one usage in the Old Testament which as we know is closer to the Aramaic Jesus would have used.
And not only that but it pointed out how later in the verse, said servant is obviously still alive (he/she's appointed their portion with the hypocrites, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.. (the gulf between those of the 1st resurrection/savedand the 2nd one of those not yet saved, on judgment 'day'?)
So aha!
This is what is so kool about researching the words and phrases. Why should we consider the translator's of these long ago scrolls to be inerrant. It's really not at all logical to assume or expect that. (Like my hubby is fond of saying "am I wrong?" Ha ha, sometimes I say yes dear you are.. :laughing7: )

good work !..I often do that myself..look up the actual range of meanings in the original language...i.e. they translate it 'thrown' into the LOF...but the actual Gk word used can mean 'placed'....of course 'thrown' sounds way more scary and terrifying which is probably the hellist translators intention !...anyway, well done...keep up the good work.

And sheila did the same ..... also loved the parallel of the tares and wheat growing together in comparison to the undivided child by Solomon ..... never saw that before ..... excellent eye
what I also see in the motive is the mother did not want to be uprooted from that which she had been planted in ..... that being ... love ... love of her child
Our love of the Son of the Father is what keeps us in faith (not of ourselves) that at the time of the harvest ..... He does the separating with His Word that is sharper that any two edged sword

All life. Every soul nd spirit is being separated, all the time.There is no end to it in this life, except for the few, like Nathan "an Israelite in whom is no guile". Most of us r more like Peter...siftd like wheat, or Jacob yet to become Israel, his true self. But thats ok, because God is longsffering and only means to bring us into His freedom. Only the bonds of futility are burned in the fire. When the division is done, we will be free indeed, Filled with the all in all, rthe I Am. Exactly the gem He is crafting. :0).

:cloud9: Cut in two = a divided work. He's had me on this for months now. Only a divided work is clean. A divided work is all through the Word, beginning in Genesis when He divided the light from the darkness.
And then there's the beasts that chew the cud AND have a divided hoof/foundation, and the waters that are divided by the firmament, and the Reed Sea that was divided for His Egyptian "wife" to give birth to His son, Israel. There are tons of them.
And then there's the 7 years that is divided by half, cutting the completion (1000) of the religious year in half, cutting the feasts then in half, and cutting that man that walks in them in half, which He did by ending things with Pentecost, "part one", leaving the body to walk out the fall feasts for completion, whosoever will. Whosoever won't, gets his part with the unbeliever's (outer court), as the breach is going to be healed in a people that are called by His name/nature. Blessings....
