Title: ultimate light, ultimate darkness
Post by: sven on December 31, 2008, 03:08:12 PM
i read this on a german page, they well know that there is no hell throughout the whole old testament, they claim, Jesus beeing the ultimate love and light, also revealed the ultimate doom and darkness in contrast, though it makes absolutely no sense for me, its an interesting argument, how do you think about this?

 :cloud9: That's a new one. That is interesting. But Jesus was the invisible Word that is eternal and Spirit, manifested as visible form. And so was always there. So I would think that His appearance as flesh here would make no difference, in that way. My  :2c: Blessings.....

I've heard that argument before: The Law came through Moses, Hell and Damnation through the Son of God.  Hell and Damnation really do a Father proud, eh?  I'd personally be totally ashamed of eventually having a son that was teaching that trash, but anyway...

Had He genuinely revealed it, then it would have only been to have taken it away since Colossians 1 says that His Blood remits the sin of all things in the heavens and in the earth, even up to the level of seen and unseen principalities and powers.  Peter's writings have a reference or two to His having preached to those that were disobedient in the days of Noah so that though they were judged in the flesh they could now live through the power of God.

If Christ Jesus brings the ultimate darkness, which any devil in his right/wrong mind would want for all of us to believe, then we have an unregenerated Nero at the right hand of God rather than the Precious Last Adam whose care extends even to the least of these His brethren, the animals, in Isaiah 40:11, Jeremiah 31:27-28, Ezekiel 34:10, Hosea 2:18, Mark 4:30-32, Romans 8:21, etc.

In 2Timothy 1 Christ has abolished death, which is a good verse for Ultra Universalists to use, but I've never seen 'em use it.  In James chapter 1 it says that only good things come from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.  I love the book of James.  Anybody ever studied it in the light of the feast of Channukah?  A very fascinating study on the Father of lights and the restorer of financial wealth to the oppressed through the fervent effectual prayer of a righteous man.  And James does close referencing the anointing with oil, and think through what the Channukah miracle's supposed to be.  Healing and your whole body being filled with light are connected in the Scriptures.  And in 1John 1 we're assured that God is light and there's absolutely no darkness in Him.  And again, it's a book of light and oil as well that closes with the understanding that we have that the Son of God has brought us and our life beyond the veil in this life.

John 3:17 God sent his Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but to save the world.

  Good to see you Back White Wings  :thumbsup:

good verse   If you can see Light as a type of Knowledge of good works  and darkness as ignorance  , not stupidity/evil  , but ignorance  , there is a vast difference  , it may make more sense  sven

Jhn 12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believes on me should not abide/stay in darkness.

Jhn 12:47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

IIRC from Hebrew.
erev=chaos -> translated as darkness.
boker=order -> translated as light.

Ever wondered why creation days go from dark/evening to light/morning.
Creating order out of chaos.

Rose I think that order also applies to the line I quoted from your post.
Unknowing (=dark =chaos) people will be led towards knowledge (=light = order)

Right White Wings , it does  :thumbsup:

 when we lift up  the Light / Knowledge   we  will be saved
 sounds simple enough  eh? to lift up  to me is to exalt  in a place of Honor  above  your own  earth[ body/heart/ mind]

And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all [men] unto me.

Jhn 12:33 This he said, signifying what death he should die.

 the death  being  signfigant /sign   was to reveal the glory / praise of God  that God  raises  us back to life from the dead ,  place of  nothingness /vanity

2Cr 4:6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to [give] the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ

hn 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.( ingnorant)
