Sinned Away His Day of Grace?

Has anyone ever heard the phrase "He sinned away his day of grace?"  I've recently heard some hell-fire-and-brimstone preachers use it, so I tried looking it up and can't find it anywhere.  Is it based off of some Scripture or is it just some token phrase?

Yep, I figured it was just some token phrase.  I just now typed it into Google, quote marks and all, and several articles came up with this phrase in it, yet none of them had any Scripture to back it up.

Fairly common idea in my upbringing...probably based on several things, accurate or not, of which I'll mention...not endorsing these as accurate support, context, or rightly dividing of scripture, but I'd say here's some of the basis of the thought;

"my Spirit will not always strive with man"

"sinned willfully, no renewing him again"

"For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. (Hebrews 10:26,27)"

I started a thread awhile back wrt "things we've heard that affected our walk", whatever....the idea of your thread and these "supporting" scriptures fit right in there...part of the things I've had to sort through in my walk with the Lord...

I've heard that phrase before, but not in a long, long time.  But I don't go to church or religious functions and have not in years, nor do I watch religious television or listen to "Christian" radio - so it is unlikely that I would be within earshot of such phraseology. 

However, I was taught that in my childhood and it haunted me from very early, as did the whole concept of ET.  I was really marred very early by the image of an unforgiving, angry God-like figure.   

Now if only God could be used as a weapon to stop the wicked from doing wickedness, then such teaching might be justified, but obviously, as this present world proves,  such teaching does not bring about righteousness in man.

If I were God, I would punish the ungodly very swiftly in many cases, I'm sure.

Sounds like someone who outsmarted God by avoiding His grace....
