It's a part of Calvinist doctrine that the redeemed in heaven will have no knowledge of their loved ones in Hell. It's a part of Augustinian doctrine that the redeemed in heaven will genuinely not give a rip about their loved ones in Hell. Calvinism at least says that God tries to hide the failure to reach all by altering everybody's memories. Augustinianism is just cold in some ways, but at the same time Augustinianism doesn't seem to envision as hot of a Hell as is envisioned by Calvinism after "The Divine Comedy" was written by a Catholic. The "Christian" Hell really got it's teeth and it's horrors from about Aquinas and Dante onwards. It's always been ominous to me that Aquinas was born the day that St. Francis of Assisi died.
