Jeremiah 6:29

29 The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed of the fire; the founder melteth in vain: for the wicked are not plucked away.

It is saying that there is no metal(metaphorically)production in the nation because the wicked are flourishing in the midst.

the bellows are burned. -bellows were big hand operated air compressors made of oil cloth & wood used to fan the fires hotter so that the metal will melt
the lead is consumed of the fire- the lead that was used as an alloy to make metals shapeable
the founders melt in vain- founders operate the foundry where metals are melted and shaped

Essentially this metaphor is talking about the making of swords, there is no sword when the wicked flourish in the midst and are not rebuked

It has nothing to do with eternal torment, rather it speaks of the consequences(loss of strength/integrity) in a nation/society/culture of allowing the wicked to go unchecked.
The Logos is complete, but it is not completely understood. http://www.hell-is-a-myth.webs.com/

 Jesus has that sharp two-edged sword coming out of His mouth..makes

war in righteousness...checks wickedness..speaks truth..purges dross..........

so that those who have faith in Him....that faith may come forth as purer then gold

[because the wicked encompass the righteous...therefore righteous judgement

does not go forth]

the elements being intensely hot shall melt....He shall thouroughly purge His

threshing floor.....He will sit as a refiner....He that is coming shall sit as a refiner of
metals.  Malachi 3;3 Zech 13;9  Rev 3;18

He shall baptize you with Holy spirit and fire......

for love is as strong as death,it's jealousy as unyeilding as the grave........it burns

like blazing fire, the very fire of God.
t
imo the intensity of the Love that Father and Jesus Christ have for man..shall

not ever fail or fall short of it's goal of deliverance, restoration of all men..that same

Love will not 'give up what is beloved" unto death......

....and in the last days I shall pour out my spirit on all flesh

.....wickedness/iniquity as a woman in a basket with a lead lid..shall be carried of to

shinar[bablyon] she has become a cage of demons[unclean birds]

Zechariah  5;5.....come out of her my people....Rev 18 in her was

found the blood of prophets and of the saints, and of All who have been killed on the earth

...and there we see...we can count on the Love of God and Jesus Christ to thoroughly purge away wickedness/dross. the Lord shall rebuke the advesary.

Jeremiah 6:29

29 The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed of the fire; the founder melteth in vain: for the wicked are not plucked away.

The way I see things, there is both a material and a spiritual aspect to a scripture; and also that an individual will find the reflex of the mind in the Bible.

If someone perceives this passage as expounding so called eternal damnation and this persists during their earthly time, in my opinion they need to learn their knowledge in another sphere of being - a terrible waste beyond comprehension now.

Those full of all kinds of oppression and injustice have misunderstood the way (v.6) - the ritualistic motions of religion are meaningless to the Lord of hosts (v.20).

Due to wicked desires, the way leading to death is followed instead of the Way to Life, and the consequences which must be reaped are compounded after multiple warnings; there is no purification as the process is marred by evil.

In my opinion, such are delivered, as it were, to the jailer, until every last penny is paid individually; due to the wickedness of their hearts there is greater suffering, until there is repentance of the past, amendment in the present, therefore progress for the future.

Blessed be He who is never absent - He who was, who is, and who always shall be.
"A few drops of blood renew the whole world, and become for all men that which rennet is for milk, uniting and drawing us into one". "Christ is like leaven for the entire mass, and having made that which was damned one with himself, frees the whole from damnation".

Gregory of Nazianzu

I agree it has nothing to do with eternal torment. When I look at Jeremiah 6 it appeared to be talking about the end of the old covenant and the start of a new one. The chapter is speaking about how God would judge Israel, and warned of a destroyer to come do e work of the Lord.

Then The Lord speaks to that destroyer to say that the fire to remove the dross (the lead) from the silver is in vain. So the Lord rejects the silver.

If you recall, Paul says that our own righteousness is of the Law. God rejects that silver because it is mixed with lead. Self working, absent of faith. Our righteousness is as dirty rags. The reason the fire does not purge the dross, is because the carnal mind could not be healed by the Law, because the letter is external, not internal.

So Jeremiah is prophecying the end of old system by which the lead could not be separated from the silver, so those who are under that system area not accepted because of that lead within them. The Lord would build a new Israel, a new Jerusalem by which he would destroy sin from the inside out, so that the lead would removed from the silver, and the silver would be accepted.
