I was in Hastings today and out of curiosity, I picked up Hell by Bil Wiese (I think he also wrote 23 Minutes In Hell) and kinda thumbed through it a bit until I got to the chapter on universalism, which of course was opposed to it.  Although I know this isn't really funny, I actually laughed out loud after reading the first paragraph, mainly because of one sentence in particular: "Most, but not all, universalists will even admit that there is absolutely no evidence for universalism in the Bible."  I just found this rather amusing, being that almost every argument for universalism I have ever read contained a plethora of Scripture to back it up.  I guess this stems from the idea that UR is nothing more than wish washy, sentimentality with no evidence.  Anyways, just thought I'd share.

That is funny.  Read tonight, I believe by rebeccat, where she said most (if not all) of those that speak against UR, do not ever express a true understanding of what those that believe in UR really do believe.  It's usually some twisted, or the most negative version they can come up with...more of a unitarian version of "all roads lead to God, it doesn't matter what you believe, blah, blah, blah"...not the things true followers of YHWH cling to with their whole life.  It's like "get a grip".

Yep, that's pretty much that route Wiese took.  His main argument was that UR is nothing more the disproportional sentimentality and that UR believers have thrown mankind's free will out the window.  Another interesting fact is that his chapter against UR was also the shortest in the book and all sources that he used was from only one book, I think is was called Hell Under Fire
