A Song of Ascents, of David

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments. It is like the dew of Hermon, mountains of Zion; for there the Lord commanded the blessing-Life forevermore.
--Psalm 133

In recent years, I feel as if our Father has hidden my wife and myself away. Put into circumstances in which we could not participate in religion, we felt very isolated from normal church activities. This did not come about on a voluntary basis. Our heavenly Father brought about the circumstances which separated us from the traditional church activities. Still hungry for spiritual things, I found myself searching deeply into church history, world history, language studies, Bible translating, Biblical language studies, etc.

Hermann, Missouri, the small town where we have been hidden away from all the religious stuff we used to participate in, was named after a German general who defeated the Roman army in the first century A.D. We live in a house on a small lake overlooking the town which was established by Germans in the mid 1800's. It is in the heart of America. I don't have the space to detail it all, but I am certain, this was the place our heavenly Father ordained we should live for this season of our life.

In these last few years, I have read literally hundreds of books all dealing with Christianity, but not from a denominational, or particular movement's slant. I was open to allow the Spirit of Truth to teach me whatever He wanted.

I spent a great deal of time studying the early Christian writings. To my amazement, I found that what the early Christians taught and believed and laid down their very lives for was much different from the doctrines taught by modern Christendom. Indeed, the early believers resembled very little to modern Protestants or Catholics. When trying to figure out why there was so much difference between the two time periods, I discovered the great falling away most modern preachers are saying is now happening had, in fact, already occurred many hundreds of years earlier. The question is not how to keep yourself from being deceived, but getting stripped from the false doctrines and idols we already have consumed.

The process of maturing into our fullness in Christ is a process of putting off and putting on. The Scriptures speak of knowledge that puffs up and knowledge of which the lack thereof brings death. This publication deals with knowing the difference.

The Psalm previously quoted beautifully details some of the kinds of things this publication will deal with in future editions: unity of the brethren, oil upon the head, garments, dew (distilled, pure words), Hermon, a mountain 7000 feet higher than Mount Zion, and the blessing commanded from there which was. . . Life forevermore!
