Years ago, I, Gary Amirault, came across a list of quotes, that got me thinking about the power of a handful of words planted in a soul. If one takes words to heart and cares for them as a gardener would a seed, a handful of words can produce a great harvest of life. As my favorite preacher, Richard Wurmbrandt, once said, “Sometimes the truth is drowned in a multitude of words.” Now THERE is a sermon every minister should plant in their heart.
The list I came across was entitled Pastor’s Punchlines by Jacquelyn K. Heasly. She has since changed the title to Split-Second Sermons. Her mini-sermons are noted with the initials JKH and are copyrighted.
I am convinced that a handful of words planted tenderly into a human heart can be tremendously fruitfulness to everyone around. May the reader grab hold of one of these World’s Shortest Sermons and be fruitful to the benefit of all mankind. Remember, simply reading the words without deciding to plant and nurture the seeds, will not produce life. They must be treasured and believed in one’s heart. —GA
