In this verse Ps 112:10, "melt" struck me differently than it did the translators... Struck me more as resistance will melt.. italics is words added by the translators.

"The wicked one, he shall see and be vexed; He shall gnash his teeth and melt away. The yearning of the wicked shall perish."

"melt away" is #4549 (H4549) - "macac" - "liquify" in Strong's etc. I believe the "away" is assumed by the translators. But H4529 "macah" - "to dissolve" could have been used, if the intent was "melt away". Or so it seems to me anyway.

"The wicked, he shall see and be vexed; -- He shall gnash his teeth and melt. -- The yearning of wicked shall perish."

Shev

Great post Marie!

It makes me think of the following verse:

"You will tread down the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day which I am preparing," says the LORD of hosts. (Malachi 4:3).

To me, it is a melting away of the evil within us, as the dross is purged, so that the judgment causes all evil to be burned away and lie at our feet as ashes.

God bless!

Michael

Indeed as you said Shev, purging away the dross. Refiners fire is specific.

1 Cor 3;13-15 " The work of each person will become evident, for the Day will disclose it because it will be revealed by fire. And the fire will test what sort of work each has done. If the work that someone has built on remains, he will receive a reward.
If someone's work is burned up, he will suffer loss, however, he himself will be saved, but only through fire."

As the verse says; If the work someone has built on....
To me, emphasises the work to be Christ's work that has been built on.
Someone's work says personal effort.

Marie- the gnashing used by the Pharisees against Christ seems to be a Jewish way of showing anger and disagreement, then lashing out to voice that disagreement. Ergo-  self-righteousness.
For the correction of those with strong doctrinal problems there will be much vexation at the changes. Yet the truth will set them free from that when the scales are removed from their eyes and everything falls into place.

Amen..! And also when Jesus returns is a judgment upon the world - "He returns with fire and with His angles" 2 Thess 1:7,8

And towards the very 'end' (of man's empires/world built on shifting sand and not upon the Rock) "blessed are those who die in the Lord from now on, for their works do follow them" (what with the resurrection and lifting up of the elect coming so soon afterwards?)

Though :iagree: some will be saved but their works burned up..

All wickedness - in us, and in the world, will be ashes underfoot .. And He (YHWH) will be all in all.. ("neither shall the former things come to mind" - no more imperfect impulses..)

The elect undergo the refiners fire now, for at Jesus' return we shall "put on immortality and incorruption" (perfection) 1 Cor 15:52-54

"not that I" (we:) "have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me." Philippians 3:12 ("and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;" verse 9)

All our imperfection shall melt away.. and all wickedness and imperfection shall melt away from off the world, "a new heavens and a new earth wherein righteousness/rightness shall dwell"

.."didn't our hearts burn within us..?" Many hearts will melt at His Presence (GWT?).. "every knee shall bow" :dsunny:

 :iagree:

.."didn't our hearts burn within us..?"

The things to come simply and literally inspire love beyond man's wisdom and attempts.
His power and love in the literal sense seem to be kept to a minimum in this age because our physical body could not contain, or handle, what we will receive in the resurrection- hence the need for a literal new body of a different substance than the physical dust in which we currently live.

I am the resurrection and the life   JESUS CHRIST IS THE FIRST DAY AND LAST DAY   and ALL in All  presented to the FATHER !!!!  John 11

Jesus Comforts Martha and Mary
...24Martha said to Him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day."

25Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, 26 and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?"...
Jesus is the reward  !!

Amen!

ISA Interlinear - "And every one living and believing into me not he may be dying.." G599 apothane "to die off" from G575 apo "off, away" and G2348 thano "to die, be dead"

.."into the eon you are believing this(?)"

..absolutely!  And how awesome it is! Instead of the natural result of perishing, we will live. He is SO good! :gsmile:

Very interesting...
We could interpret it, imo, in two different ways:
1) Melt refers to God's purification, that "melts" the wicked in order to annihilate all their evil deeds and thoughts, or...
2) Melt refers to the wicked's anger in this lifetime.

 :Chinscratch: ...

...I've gotten it in my head that it's a natural law that all imperfection fades.. and can only ever fade. (Because I think God is life itself, and also perfection, which would make imperfection the opposite of life.)

..thanks.. fade... melt.. away... all that "misses the mark" - translated sin.. (including) the world's grudge/anger against Him, can only melt and fade away..
