Misconceptions
I believe there are two main misconceptions that are widely taught among Christians today regarding the Greek words aion (aiwn) and aionios (aiwnioV).

Firstly we have the traditional teaching that aionios always means eternal, and eis aiona (and similar expressions) means for ever. On this linguistic foundation rests the common belief that most of the human race will suffer eternal torment and damnation.

Secondly we have the opposite and mainly more recent teaching. This tells us that aion always means an age and aionios means age-lasting. This I believe is much nearer the truth, and certainly less harmful than the traditional teaching. However I believe it is not the whole truth. It springs from a failure to study the meaning of the Hebrew word olam (עוֹלָם) in the Old Testament and an ignorance of various linguistic principles.

Conclusion
If we translate the Greek word aionios either by everlasting or by age-lasting we meet with inconsistencies and contradictions. If we trace it back to its roots in the Hebrew word olam, pointing us to the unseen, timeless realm of God the Scriptures take on new and consistent meaning.   Everything described by the word aionios or aeonian is rooted in the timeless nature of God. Everything aeonian relates to him. Aeonian life and aeonian fire are aeonian because they are part of the nature of God, who is from everlasting to everlasting, from olam to olam. These things exist for the whole of human time, and they go beyond into the timeless and invisible realm of the spirit. They go beyond the comprehension of our time-limited minds and belong to the timeless and spiritual realm of God.   Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known (1 Cor 13: 12).

I did have a recent (possible perhaps) revelation that it means more accurately "world-lasting".

Is it possible that is nearer the mark?

Perhaps even "realm-lasting", carrying the idea of "sphere of influence-both by means of time, space, circumstance, and purpose behind them"?

God is Life, and so realm-lasting life, life pertaining to the realm of Life, or life lasting so long as the realm of Life lasts would last as long as God.

Mt 25:46 And these shall be coming~ away into chastening eonian, yet the just into life eonian. -CLV

Chastisement is temporal, and so realm-lasting chastisement is temporal by default, lasting only so long as chastisement is needed, and then it is put away, or abolished.

No, just that as of current (I am not sure about the whole 5, 8, etc number of "aions, ages") there is one realm, and two realms to come, and then there is Reconciliation - All in All.

The present wicked realm, then realms of Life, and Chastisement (the realm of all consuming fire, where all are salted with fire to go to Life, or to be purified and then go to Life) and then there is Life, Truth, Love - All in All.

Atleast that is my gathering of it.  I am not sure if that is what you meant by your first post, or if we are discussing the possibility of Aeons being "worlds" or "realms".

From the article (what I've read so far, it is late and bed beckons), the idea of Olam to me brings forth the English phrase; "Until further notice".

I still feel that there is a dual meaning to the word Aion, one regarding "Realm" or "World", and as Olam carries itself "Until further notice".

 :cloud9: If we look at the Jews, our example, they had periods of chastisement, which I think could be considered an "age". I like the word "age-enduring" as an explanation. One of their ages was 490 years in captivity, which works out to 7 X 70, the exact comment Jesus made about how many times must I forgive my brother.

Seven being perfection, and ten being completion AND the number of the ten words (commandments), it paints a picture of the spiritual fulfillment of the law that the Spirit does in each of us. So why should that stop after death of the body, since He saves the soul? My  :2c: Blessings....

I think there are often relationships between words. Different words often describe the same thing, or perhaps, different aspects of the same thing. I think olam is definitely the key word in the group, especially in the OT. In the NT I think aion/aionios and kosmos are related in this way. So also chronos, kairos, genea (times, seasons and generations).

Psa 73:12  Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world(H5769olam); they increase in riches. Do the ungodly prosper in eternity? Notice here the word olam has the element of world like unto kosmos- but it is describing "this present evil age(aion/olam)"

"This is the generation that seeks your face." Those who have already entered aionian life and are rejoicing in the first fruits of the new aion and kosmos.

"Be saved from this perverse generation". Those who are are a part of this "present evil age/aion" and who are perishing with the kosmos that is "reserved for fire".

He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world(olam) in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end. (Ecc 3:11) Should read He has set "the unknown" or "the beyond horizon" in their hearts- meaning God has set some unanswerable questions in us so we never get to the bottom of it all. "For who has known the mind of the Lord"- we must always seek humbly.

Isa 45:17  But Israel shall be saved in the LORD with an everlasting(H5769 olam) salvation: ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end.H5704 H5769 H5703 ad olam ad

Ad olam ad may mean "time backwards and forwards" "many age/worlds" but literally is something like "unto beyond unto". Ad is always used as directional continuation- and, until, unto, toward- it occurs over 1000 times in the OT.

For since the beginning of the world (H5769olam) men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him. (Isa 64:4)

This usage of olam includes definitley the impression of kosmos and aion....world and age. I think olam expresses a wide range of indeterminate/unknowable aspects of age and world,-limited or modified or unlimited by the object it is attached to.

which realm is the 1000 millenium peace? same as this one? because I would call that a different age, for it is run by christ goverment and the devil is chained.
