Sabbath
Matt 12;5 " Have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple break the Sabbath and yet are not guilty?"

Matt 12;8  " For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."

Mark 2;27,28 " The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath."

Luke 6;5 " The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."

Luke 13;15,16 " Then the Lord answered him saying,
' You hypocrites! Does not each one of you untie his ox on the Sabbath, or his donkey from the manger to lead it away to water it? And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom satan bound for eighteen years, be released from this bondage on the day of the Sabbath?'

John 5;18 " This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to  Him, because He not only used to break the Sabbath, but
He was also calling God His own Father, thus making Himself equal with God."

Hebrews 4;3 " For we who have believed do enter that rest.

Hebrews 4;9,10 " Consequently there remains a Sabbath rest for the  people of God. For the one who enters God's rest has also rested
from his works, as God did from His.
"

Awesome. Pretty specific rest.
Also the part about Jesus calling God Father; making himself equal with God. We too are to call God Father because of Christ. ergo suggests us claiming to be equal with God in Christ.

Awesome verses.. we rest in Him, who 'has life in Himself" ..the Father has given to Jesus to have life in Himself, and all others will be fully in Jesus.. the fully, being at His return when all believers/followers will "put on immortality" and "incorruption" - So much better than all the pagan faiths which believe each one will individually "ascend".. "I will" as Satan that old serpent and dragon declared.. (and Cain's offering declared? ...and Babble Tower pictured? with its ascending levels (of initiation, aka, "knowledge falsely called" by gnosticism-the esoteric elements of the world pagan faiths, who thought matter was evil so it wasn't being saved from our sins and flaws/imperfections - which result is death, it was having to be saved from matter - they forgot how Yahweh created and said "behold it's all good"... "be fruitful..etc..". God's creation is awesome! Imagine teaching it was evil! ..just another blasphemy. Am I ranting? :laughing7: :faint: )

Hi;
Not ranting, just learning the positive.
Could be why the song,
                                 Accentuate the positive,
                                 Eliminate the negative,
                                Don't mess with Mr In-between.

Perhaps the Sabbath is to acknowledge that we are human and He is God. We need time to rest, so we can hear His voice. When we are always busy, it is harder to discern.

Be still and know that I am God.

Some of us go to Church to do this, others like to be near nature, and so forth.

So, when the Pharisees criticized Him for 'going against the rules' they were thinking of the way they presented the sabbath, in Law, but Jesus was looking at the sabbath from the view of Love.

7"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8"For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened....

Not sure if I understand what you are saying here and hope I dont offend...

but I dont get the logic. Jesus says, "All authority in heaven and earth is given me by my Father"... and "My Father is greater than I".... Paul says

But when He says, "All things are put in subjection," it is evident that He(Father) is excepted who put all things in subjection to Him. 28 When all things are subjected to Him, then the Son Himself also will be subjected to the One(Father) who subjected all things to Him, so that God may be all in all.

For so it pleased the Father to make all the fulness dwell in Him......

Jesus was equal to God by the pleasure(divine will, purpose and kind intention) of the Father

We have Christ in us, but we are not equal to God because of that, nor would we regard ourselves in that way, imo, as disciples of the Lord and children of YHWH. Jesus Himself is only what He is because of the will of the Father - and repeatedly stated it- and because He pleased the Father in all His ways.

The Sabbath rest spoken of in Hebrews is the rest of faith, "Today if you hear His voice, harden not your hearts as they did in the wilderness and saw my works 40 years, therefore I said in my anger- they shall not enter my rest"

Rest is for those who hear with faith, "The word is nigh thee, in your heart and on your lips, if you confess Jesus as Lord....." Trusting Him allows His Lordship to flourish, in the form of His character

The promised land was only opened after "every unbelieving member perished" Therefore we are to watch lest we be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin and "fall in a similar manner of unbelief".... "unbelief" is the wilderness road, where we, because we cannot "hear with faith" and trust Him, so we get mired in "the fruit of our own works". As we learn to yield, "Today if you hear my voice"... we rest, and we "cease from our own works" and the Spirit undertakes for us, carrying us over the Jordan into Beulah(Beautiful, Bountiful) Land- fruitfulness in being conformed into His image- within.

So, for us, the Sabbath is "Christ in you the hope of glory", the promised land is ours as we become more like Him, the wilderness the place we wander as our unbelieving members(flesh, carnal mind, instincts, desires) are dealt with. The land of plenty is where the fruit of the Spirit grows a plenty, the giants are driven out(of us) by grace and the living water flows like springs in the desert.

Pretty much what I was attempting. Resting from our works, relying on His provision.

Equal in authority does not mean equal in power- that equality is only as designated by the one with ultimate power.
For us to be judging angels and having responsibility we need to be given that seat of authority through God under His training program.
Because of Christ we are children of God, joint heirs with Christ- that must have some indication of our position in the ages to come.

Ok, That clarifies some. I agree with that. Our inheritance is a big part of the UR story. The whole creation eagerly awaits the revelation of the sons of God.
