2 words... What's the difference in nuance?

Micah 7:18 (Young's Literal Translation)

18Who [is] a God like Thee? taking away iniquity, And passing by the transgression of the remnant of His inheritance, He hath not retained for ever His anger, Because He -- He delighteth [in] kindness.

Isaiah 57:16 (Young's Literal Translation)

16For, not to the age do I strive, nor for ever am I wroth, For the spirit from before Me is feeble, And the souls I have made.

What's the difference between "to the age" and "for ever" ... I'm not asking about duration here because I already know that these words can be indefinite OR relative.. "His mercy is to the age" (means for as long as somebody needs His mercy, it will always be there).

But anyone know the difference in nuance between to the age VS.for ever?

I think there is no nuace in this case.
Olam = age
Ad = for ever

But if you look closely at the verses they are the same. They are both about showing mercy.

The 'not for ever' in Isa is  a bit odd...

Yes... It just occured to me... since there's no difference in nuance, Robert Young might have used to the age and then 'for ever' in Isaiah just to avoid redundancy.

If "not" is removed from "not forever" the whole verses changes and possibly contradicts.
Possibly because I still have problems understanding the definition  of "not for ever".

How can "ever" have "overseer" as a root word?
Overseer/eminence makes the most sense when the two meanings are combined.  => God is a overseer
But the verse needs to be reworden to make it fit.
