I found the meanings to be very interesting. I will not expound on it myself.

Mar 14:3  And while he was in Bethany(house of dates) in the house of Simon(hearing) the leper,(representing sin?) as he sat at meat,(being fed) there came a woman having an alabaster(expensive fragile box) cruse of ointment(oil) of pure nard(precious) very costly;(the best) and she brake (shattered)the cruse(box), and poured it over his head.

Interesting to note the mature date measures up to 3 inches, incased in a outer skin which encases a SINGLE SEED.

 I just Love those little gems like that.     Here's another that I alway found interesting.....the fig is shaped like a womb...but there is a hollow in it,where you would think

  a seed should be.........but instead....the seed is very tiny and dispersed throughout the flesh of the fig.

And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me. For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always. She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying. Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her. And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went unto the chief priests, to betray him unto them. And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently betray him.

From one perspective, this is about value. Jesus is eating with a leper, in the house of a leper, breaking bread. Jesus values the disfigured and defiled- and fellowships with them. Some who were there commented on the value of the ointment, but they were also commenting on the value of Jesus, to them. "What a waste" they said. Imagine. Jesus then valued the oil of the woman as an anointing for His burial.... and she was certainly showing the value she placed upon her love for her Lord and Savior. Judas also showed his sense of value, and went on his way to get his money.

It's not so odd Jesus ate with Simon the leper aka Nicodemus because he was His grandfather.

I didn t think it was odd in anycase :o). Perfectly in character for Jesus..... altho I am sure that the leper colonies were full of relatives of good Pharisees who would not sup with them. Families today often ostracize their "lepers". I am glad my Father gathers them -through His Son. ;o)

Simon the leper likely was a very healty man.
I can't imagine a leper could sit in the Sanhedrin court room that was only a few yards away from the Holy of Holies.
He likely was a leper because of disagreements with the rest of the half Roman Sanhedrin.

Families today often ostracize their "lepers".

My point exactly, altho I do think Simon the leper was really a leper, Jesus loves us all, whatever our leprosy is .... and washes and restores us with His own hands. The leprosy may be of the heart, or the mind, or the body- it doesn't matter.
