This verse says a field which only produces weeds and thorns is under God's curse - this would be the part I would think of as metaphor, that God would personally pronounce a curse upon the field - it will receive no rain and so will end up burning.

I have three fields around our house, to me, if they receive no rain they will dry up into patches of very dry dirt, baking under the hot sun.. That is the type of burning I envision when it comes to a field under serious drought.

In the interlinear it says the field is nigh unto burning.. Looking up "burning" -

burning, burning up: ἧς τό τέλος εἰς καῦσιν, the fate of which land (appointed it by God) is, to be burned up  -- here's where, imo, is where the translators lose it ---> (by fire and brimstone from heaven)

Over and over they added these types of projections to words and verses. This may be why people seem to find it so hard to simply read the words of God's Spirit/Presence, without projecting.. without adding to and taking away.. unintentionally heeding those so early words "did/does God really say..?"

How good it is to know only Truth will remain standing. :dsunny:

Jesus: "IF I be lifted up from the Earth, I will draw ALL (all, every, the whole) unto Me." (Jn.12:32) [Next verse saying - signifying what death He would suffer..]

And as we know, that's only one verse of so very many.. but even we of UR/CU still stumble at so many things - as in true vs not so true - that getting those verses out to the sight of others is accompanied with a lot of overpowering static. I pray UR will break through the babble and speak the scriptures with a clear voice. If it's not "the adversary" blocking, it's totally us. And judgment begins in the house of God.. Yet once more He will rise to shake terribly the Earth.. so that what cannot be shaken shall remain. (Heb.12) [The verses of Hebrews is talking about obeying by entering His rest, as opposed to the OT letter of the law - revealed in other letters to have served to show the world what is sin/missing the mark/flawed behavior. But was not the system/administration for the regeneration of being born again, otherwise they would not have needed a Day of Atonement annually.

The Way is (surely?) the way of His Word - Logos - reasoning expressed in Words - of which Jesus is the prototype of, and perfect example of to be born within us.. But as we walk down this Way/road, the ditches on the sides are huge, overflowing with muddy rushing waters.. And as the christians walk along, they are bombed. The way is strewn with potholes of all types and sizes.. But the Spirit of Elijah, which Jesus said would cry out to His church/believers before His appearing, says "make straight and level the way of the LORD".

Every individual believer walking along in our own bubbles of 'truth' keeps us from being a functioning body. So I pray all believers every where will keep reading and thus will "abide in Him" and will "abide in His Word, and thus bear much fruit".

..kind of like death now means living.. death is to be alive.. "God alone is immortal" 1 Tim.6:16 is exagerration..

Whereas the scripture says ----

"The gospel is even preached to the dead" it could be understood (imo:) that the gospel preached to the dead can only occur upon Judgment Day, because "the dead live not again until after the thousand years"..

Which, if preaching to the dead can only occur at "the judgment"  STRONGLY suggests UR/CU! ..but because we are a fractured thus dysfunctional? body, UR/CU remains in large part not seen, because a little leaven leavens the whole lump? Fractured? because upon the Way we each walk along in our own bubble of 'truth'?

And basically that's what the whole Gospel is. Commentary on the greatly misunderstood law.
You shall not commit adultary. No doubt the masses understood that as having sex. Jesus explained that even looking lustful at that man/woman is adultary. He didn't change anything, He added depth and understanding.

    do not judge unless you  find yourself being judged  also under the same witnesses .

  I believe this applies  as , always  in effect  as long as the   times  and seasons   exist  until the fullness of the   nations comes in .

as the prophecy is fulfilled .
