In the Creators' language, all words sharing a two letter root share a common action, linking all the words together, even those that are opposite in meaning. The nuances of meaning will be varied, based on the letters put around those two letter roots, but the base meaning is the same, either positive or negative, such as with an atom.
So, regarding evil, I would like to go beyond the American definition given from the usual sources, such as Strong's Concordance, which, while helpful at times, is not helpful when it comes to these nuances of words, nor does it take into account the various stems of a hebrew verb, which can often change the nuance of meaning as well.
I will use the word 'evil' as an example.
Here are just a few of the words sharing the two letter root רע, 'ra'.
רע= evil
רע= shout
רע= associate
רע= thought
יריעה= sheet
מרע= associate
רעב= famished
רעב= famine
רעד= quivering
רעה= shepherd
And here are a couple from Aramaic:
רעע= smash
רעות= decision
מירעה= pasture
רוע= shout
Believe it or not, there is a common action, found in an agricultural setting, that links all of these words together. The letters ר and ע provide the meaning for that common action. Doing this has given me what I believe to be a more accurate understanding of what the scripture speaks of concerning 'evil'.
That common action is what takes place when grass is eating in a field. It is disjointed. That is the negative aspect. The positive aspect is to be jointed. From my translation research, every one of these words carries either the action of something disjointed, or jointed.

:cloud9: When grass is eating in a field??? Do you mean, "eaten"?
Lol Card I would assume that's what he meant.
This is interesting and I was actually looking up evil in the hebrew not that long ago and found it to mean much the same thing - I think the word I would use rather than disjointed would be harmed though. Any type of harm, whether the motive is pure or impure. So for example someone being punched in the face would be considered "evil" in the hebrew. Likewise, chemotherapy would be considered "evil", even though the motive is to cure that person of cancer, because it is causing them harm (or "evil", or "calamity").
Thankfully our Father is using all this evil/harm/calamity like a chemo treatment and not a punch in the face. :winkgrin:

Of course, any translation is not necessarily going to capture the fullness of the word, but the reason for my choice of the word 'disjoint' and it's opposite 'joint', is based on the agricultural meaning of the word. When grass is grazed, it is disjointed as the sheep or goat eats it. Its opposite, a companion, is one who is jointed to another. To be disjointed is to be, in a less concrete way, harmed, as you shared.
I love the illustration you gave about chemotherapy. It illustrates what I believe to be the truth about 'evil'. The important thing is that the physician performing the chemotherapy is not disjointed, or evil. They are only performing what is disjointed, what is evil, and, as you said, using it for good.
This is my primary reason for bringing this out, as many people interpret evil in such a way as to automatically think that in order for God to do evil, he has to be evil himself, which is so far from truth, so they tend to approach it another way by saying that God 'allows' evil, not directly causing it. Understanding evil apart from the religious and moral underpinnings given to it, I believe gives a more accurate understanding of how God can indeed do 'ra', which he himself even says he does, and yet not be 'ra' himself.

:cloud9: Exactly :thumbsup:
Yes. I see this in the definition of evil as separation, juxtaposed against union, chaos juxtaposed against harmony. Light shines out of darkness.
If all people are connected(zoe, life, vine), then evil is that which does not see the connection(death, chaos, selfishness). Jesus overcame evil with good(let there be LIGHT!) and union ignited like a matrix spreading through out the whole creation, overcoming evil with good, but evil being the means of demonstrating the good, or chaos being the means of demonstrating harmony.
"In all wisdom and insight He made known to us the mystery of His will according to the kind intention which He purposed in Him with a view to an administration suitable to the fulness of time, that is, the summing up(gathering together into one) of all things in Christ, things in heaven and things in earth."
This to me is where grace triumphs so completely, in that we did not choose ourselves to be "a sort of first fruits of His(new) creation". He chose us, to be like a measure of leaven hidden in three measures of meal until the whole is leavened.
Wow, its just so awesome.
I also see it here.
"For it was the Father's good pleasure to make all fulness dwell in Him and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross, through Him I say whether things in earth or in heaven. And altho you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind and evil deeds, yet now He has reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, that He might present you before Himself holy and blameless and beynd reproach"
Light shall shine out of darkness. "Who are you oh man, that boasts"!!! By grace through faith LEST ANY MAN SHOULD BOAST!!!
By this we can present the salvation of all, the restoration of all, with a full assurance of faith.
Woe unto you o man who judges another while doing the same things yourself! Don't you know if you violate the law in one point you have violated the law and you must die for it! :o)
"And even if our gospel is veiled it is veiled to those who are perishing(apollumi, chaos, ruination) in whose case the god of this world has blinded the eyes of the unbelieving that they might not see the light of the gospel f the glory of Christ who is the image of God. For we do not preach ourselves but Jesus Christ as Lord and ourselves as your servants for Jesus's sake. For God who said, "Light shall shine out of darkness", is the one who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
Everywhere it is life out of death, light out of darkness, union out of chaos, so that God gets all the glory and no flesh can stand in His presence.
I gotta stop. I am getting carried away. I might burst :banana:

Thank you for this ew. I noticed some uplifting things here (that I find personally uplifting but which others may not agree with) and in http://www.austin-sparks.net/english/books/000966.html (provided by Anna) and would like to share a part (I am not usually one to pay so much attention to a word).
2 Corinthians 4v4. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the
light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
v6. For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us
the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
From what I see, glory -
doxa - is used four times in 2 Corinthians 4, and all occurrences are used as glory (i.e. noun [glory] not adjective [glorious]).
The first two times glory is used, two distinct qualities/attributes emanate from the glory (or they belong to the glory).
These two things are v4. "gospel" and v6. "knowledge".
From both gospel and knowledge is emitted a spiritual splendour described as light.
Divine glory generally refers to a glorious condition of blessedness, splendour, brightness, magnificence, excellence, preeminence, perfection, etc. etc.
v4. "the light of
the gospel of the glory of Christ...".
v6. "the light of
the knowledge of the glory of God...".
There is as a special, non-earthly, majestic, perfect light of splendour.
That light shines from two different things...
v4. "the
gospel of the glory..."
v6. "the
knowledge of the glory..."
And the glory itself comes from Christ/God.
Yet a further Divine association is made with this special light.
v4. "...Christ, who is the image of God".
v6. "...God, in the face of Christ".
v4. "the light of the
gospel of the glory of
Christ, who is the image of God".
v6. "the light of the
knowledge of the glory of
God in the face of Christ".
There is something of special significance to be found in...
v4. the image of God as Christ.
v6. God in the face of Christ.
v4. The glory of the image of God as Christ - has a gospel.
v6. The glory of God in the face of Christ - has knowledge.
And the glory of both give off light.
I believe that it is this "light " which will abound and magnify in the minds (v4) and hearts (v6) of God's children when "the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God" and "the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ" are given their rightful place in the teachings of that which is sometimes called Christendom.
I believe that for man at large to be chiefly reconciled, it must be in God's complete Love. And Love must include the expounding of the beautiful characteristics of the Christ of God.
God's purposes are all centered in His Son (early Hebrews). And the light of the knowledge and gospel of His glory are waiting to be given.
Peace in the rest which is service.

Hey Ronan,
I am really interested in your perspective on the ancient meaning in Hebrew. Is it like signs and symbols? I try to connect he Hebrew words which you refer to and the Hebrew text in like http://qbible.com/hebrew-old-testament/genesis/1.html#1. with your symbolic description and I cannot see it. What is it that you are using to give you this insight into symbols and Hebrew?

Shalom Joe,
It can be likened to a sign yes, or perhaps a picture, something given by our Creator to not only create words, as Adam did, but also for each word to be self-defined. Using modern Hebrew (which is actually Aramaic script), you will not be able to see most of the pictures at all. Let me see if we can't help you see for yourself how to self define a word.
Give me a word in Hebrew that you would like to define by the pictures, and I will steer you in the direction where you will be able to see the picture in your mind behind the word.
What about the word grace. H2580 (chen).
Thanks
Ok, let's look at grace. The word is (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5638259/ah/na.png)(http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5638259/ah/ho.png).
The first letter (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5638259/ah/ho.png) is a picture of a two tent wall panels.
The second letter (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5638259/ah/na.png) is a picture of a sprouted seed.
Here are my first two questions.
What is the purpose of a tent wall, which they would have lived in? Or for today, think of the walls of a home, what do they do?
What is the purpose of a seed that has sprouted?
We will go from there. I want you do discover this for yourself so bear with me. :thumbsup:

"Acts 4:32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.
Acts 2:44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church(seed house :) daily such as should be saved.

I like the "dis-jointed" because to me, it's all a matter of being "dis jointed" from God who is both Life and Perfection.. so to be dis jointed from God/Life/Perfection is to be imperfect, the opposite of Life, hence the unveiling/truth-revealed when collapse (called apocalypse) occurs, for this is the unavoidable Truth he is teaching - good from evil/life from death and that wander away from Him/Life cannot be done, but would simply end in a self destructive puff of smoke and dust and ashes.. utter collapse/apocalypse.. death, fading..
"If you then being evil.." (imperfect, disjointed from God, "ra") Jesus said (and "Know how to give good gifts to your children..")

I see it as a womb. But also a bridal suite.
Thanks guys for your replies. What I am researching with this language is to find a consistent pattern with regard to the meaning of the letters, and how they relate to one another in defining a word. What I am currently patterning in my translating work and word research is to see the letters functioning the same way that Hebrew grammar does. So, for example, with a 2 letter root, such as (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5638259/ah/na.png)(http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5638259/ah/ho.png), I know that in Hebrew, verbs typically preceed the noun or object. In other words, the action comes first, then the one doing the action next, which of course is the opposite in English.
So when I see the (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5638259/ah/ho.png) it functions to wall off space, one away from the other. For example, a tent wall divides outside away from inside. A wall in a home might divide a bathroom away from a bedroom, etc. As the first letter in this word, it functions as a verb, so for me, that action is 'wall'. The second letter is a sprout, and a sprout continues onward what came before it, meaning whatever plant it came from. It speaks of the continuing onward of life. So in this case, being the second letter, I see it functioning as a noun, a 'sprout'.
Put together, as I understand it, any word that contains the root (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5638259/ah/na.png)(http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5638259/ah/ho.png) has something to do with walling a sprout, putting a wall around life, and further to expand the concept, to protect and shelter that sprout, or life. And, true to form, this is exactly what an encampment is. That encampment is a concrete picture of all that grace is about. Joe and Tony, as you can see, when you think about it, both of your expressions 'holy spirit tabernacle' and 'womb', although different words and concept, are related and fit the pattern.
Ronen, you explanation makes me think of this verse:
Job 1:10 "Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land.
The hedge=wall actively protected Job=sprout from satan.
In that verse the wall is the blessing itself.
PS can you also start a thread about life?
what about tabernacle..with sectioning off HOH? Jesus called/sprout/branch.........take away
wall/curtain of seperation. also..a pattern of sectioned off area in a 'house/tent' etc reminds me

Yes Sheila, I can see that as a valid nuance of meaning. :)
Also, seed and womb. Like the rings of an archery target, these thoughts get closer and closer to the core. Christ as seed, creation as womb.
In the beginning the earth was without form and void, and the Spirit hovered over the waters. Then God said, "Let there be light!".
Luke 1:31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over Jacob's descendants forever; his kingdom will never end."
34 "How will this be," Mary asked the angel, "since I am a virgin?"
35 The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come on you,(Sprit hovering over the waters) and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God(Let there be Light!").
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
2 Cor 4: 5 For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. 6 For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness(seed)," made his light shine in our hearts(tent) to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of Christ.
7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay(seed tent) to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
1 Peter 1:22 Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart. 23 For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. 24 For,
"All people are like grass,
and all their glory is like the flowers of the field;
the grass withers and the flowers fall,
25 but the word of the Lord endures forever."

Bex, as I understand Ronen that's the exact opposite of the word picture.
If the word picture is about a pitcher(wall) with light(seed) it's not about light breaking free but a the pitcher restraining it. Or protecting it if you wish.
The wall is the verb, so has the action like restraining or protecting. The light is the noun. If the light would break free the seed picture has to be the verb, first 'letter' of the word.
(http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5638259/ah/ho.png)(http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5638259/ah/na.png)
Is that correct Ronen?
/EDIT I wonder what the reversed word means.
:cloud9: I understand that, but I was seeing "ahead" of the process, just like the child doesn't stay in the womb forever. Blessings....
what happens when the noun becomes active? like in Genesis Joseph is a vine[sprout] that
climbs over a wall.......
A couple of pictures come to mind regarding GRACE as tent wall panels and a sprouted seed, if I may be permitted to share the general drift:
1) Tent Wall Panels And Sprouted Seed As Christ Amongst Humanity
Christ comes among a people [who had been separated out by the Supreme and Almighty God] and who should follow a law, according to His design. The Grace of Christ sprouts in that people.
As Grace is given in abundance (and the healthy sprouting seed is alive and living), people outside of the separated people also receive Grace, and the separation which was required in the earliest nurturing stages to educate about sin and righteousness is no longer needed: "because, by works of law, no flesh at all shall be justified in His sight, for through law is the recognition of sin" (Rom. 3:20); it becomes a stumbling block for those turning to look behind instead of marching upwards and onwards in faith, with Christ leading the train: "For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth" (Rom. 10:4). "Exempted from Christ were you who are being justified in law. You fall out of grace. For we, in spirit, are awaiting the expectation of righteousness by faith" (Gal.5:4,5).
Wonderfully, according to His pleasure, the tiny sprouting seed can grow and grow to fullness - because of His Grace. Glory be to God!
Peace.
2) Tent Wall Panels And Sprouted Seed As The Spirit Given By The Father of Spirits
The spirit with the manifold blessings of Grace, grows towards the Light according to the season, from the smallest green shoot into a beautiful child of God; the child is revealed before the Perfection of Christ, and the full import for the need for the Saviour is seen bringing fullness of gratitude and humility.
For such: "God is He, not of the dead, but of the living, for all, to Him, are living" (Luke 20:38). Their souls thirsted for God: "for the living God" (Psalms 42:2). "He who is believing in Me, even if he should be dying, shall be living. And everyone who is living and believing in Me, should by no means be dying for the eon. Are you believing this?" (John 11: 25,26 - Concordant Literal Version).
The spirit without the walls of protection, guidance and manifold blessings of Grace, does not sprout towards the Light but instead is stunted in the darkness and cannot abide the Light of Christ; the darkness brings a suffering and remorse to be worked out in a misery which is profound.
Such as these sought and were satisfied with the gods and treasures that this world had to offer; they do not benefit from Grace nor can they abide in Christ: "Such a person feeds on ashes; a deluded heart misleads him" (Isaiah 44:20). For such as these, God is not the Living God.
Not wishing to finish on a sad note, this is why the redemption of ALL is such a beautiful Divine Purpose - The Beautiful Divine Purpose. He has ordained it, and it cannot fail because of His Grace. We care for the redemption of others above all else.
Peace in His Grace.
your post brought to mind Job's travail..and his repenting in dust and ashes. Began hedged around..all
that he possessed in this world,flocks,children,position,health/physical blessings.. 'righteous".then lost when the
hedge was removed....and he 'obscured counsel without knowledge/darkness"
yet,he knew...my redeemer lives........ he had heard about him..but now he saw him...and repented.
in dust and ashes....a branch that grows over the protective wall..will face adversity...necessary for growth
Ronen, What u Have presented in these posts is immensely interesting and edifying. Where would I begin if I wanted to look into these studies?
I have the same question as EW. Edifying and intriguing stuff Ronen.

Here are some places I started with:
http://www.ancient-hebrew.org/ (http://www.ancient-hebrew.org/) Full of free resources. I cut my teeth here before moving on with my own research.

There are several differing thoughts taught concerning how this all is put together, so as you read, you will find differing opinions, but at least it will get you thinking on your own as you become more familiar with the letters and in thinking on how they are put in any given word.
The premise I am working with is that of a consistent pattern throughout each word, and each letter. While I am all for spiritual meanings and other further depths and levels being explored, I believe that there is a base understanding that must not be ignored, and it is that base that I am seeking to discover, if one even exists. For example, I used to think עולם meant 'eternal', simply because my strong's told me so, but having studied the letters making up the word, and related words, I can now 'see' what the word means and see it totally different now.
Here are several videos, where I share some of the patterns and connections I am seeing as I study this language. I also go some into what I see as the deeper meanings and implications as well. These go back a ways, so some of what I share I may define slightly different now, as I am continuing to learn.

There are other sources as well, but you would have to pay for them.

I, find all this information very good, nice and informative. I like it even though I understand little of all that it says, yet the one thing I was given that caused me to swell with comfort, was that the "garden" in Genesis 1 was "fenced" was "hedged." And we came out of that. Good.
I am sure it was mentioned in the posts, so I may have missed it, I am sorry.
Still, I find the information from our brother WONDERFUL!
The whole of all the posts for me was/is good informative and eyeopening......we just keep digging! He Is Risen! :dsunny: :HeartThrob:

Wonderful to grow in grace and knowledge. Just keep digging.

The primary meaning of the Hebrew word for garden is a (cultivated) fenced garden. It even looks like the word picture Ronen posted.
(http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5638259/ah/na.png) Adam and Eve
(http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5638259/ah/ho.png) The fence around the garden
(http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5638259/ah/na.png)(http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5638259/ah/ho.png). Adam and Eve within the protection (grace) of the garden.
Looks good, doesn't it? I'm just not so sure we can use the letters like this. Maybe nice to mention is that the root word of garden mean defend/cover/surround which obviously aligns perfectly with the function of a fence.
..upon reading this thread..it comes to my mind..the distinction between a cultivated and wild..seed./vine.....
the wild not being contained[your own iniquity will rebuke you[adversity when againstthe will of God]
...but yet....there is an adversity expierenced also within the will/direction of God...........
.....and I see two vines entangled[wild/cultivated[tame]..with the wild vine wrapped around the cultivated one.
now the cultivated one is 'upright' as on a pole within the garden...and the 'wild vine resembled a serpent
coiled around it'[I see the abomination of desolation in the temple/garden/HOH/offspring of vipers sitting in
the seat of Moses. the wicked encompassing the righteous.....therefore right judgement does not go forth..
I see the Lord crucified.
I really like the pictoral letters/language........Genesis 2;19 He brought them to the man to see what he
would name them,and whatever the man would call each living creature,thatwas it's name.Subtil..that
which is not easily observed/elusive
for God made man upright..but he has sought out many inventions[imaginations]
Two eagles and a vine...Ezekiel ch 17
