What’s In A Name?

Y'shua, Jesus.. from the Hebrew Joshua which means savior.. And also called Immanuel/Emmanuel which name means "God with us". I learned recently how knowing some of the old Hebrew figures of speech (called idioms, a new word to me!) it will aid in our understanding of the scriptures and some verses. .. If the definition of the idiom is accurate that is.

I also learned recently via biblehubs app with the interlinear, etc. that another use of the word translated "name" also means "character". He will be called Emmanuel." His character is God with us. ...It's a deeper understanding. (And I'm thinking it's much deeper than I first thought!)

I mean, we knew He was and is "God with us" but finding it in the depths of God's Word (to us) makes it bigger and fuller.

What's in a name? Savior / God with us..

I know how that feels.  That's why I literally have over 300MB of notes  :laugh:

The exact meaning is even better. Maybe even adds more depth/understanding, but that depends on what you are looking for I guess.

I too am being taken in the depth of not just the written word but also "The Living Word" and I also see it as not just character but also identity ..... what I mean by that is: it is not just "what" He is (an attribute of) but it is "who" He is (the substance of)

It is because of this that I have been lead to try and understand the concept of "dual of" in the original language of Scripture.

Is this the concept of "dual of"  ..... that it is not just understanding them as two separate things, but two things as one

What came to mind is the word "shadow", not that it is darkness or the result of light shining on something physical causing the shadow, but through the idea that "the attribute" is a shadow of "the substance" (which can be seen as "the exact representation of) and using a physical example to explain something spiritual is that they are "always" connected at the feet, or in the spiritual sense .... they are always connected at the walk, they walk the same path, always with each other or always with us.

I have no idea if this is absolutely correct (that it is "truth") or not, but I am beginning to believe it is true
