I am sure alot of self help stuff
Is about feeling positive and better
without fully facing harsh reality
However Budhism teaches acceptance
and openness to suffering not running
from how things are.

I don't think Christianity teaches running from how things are.   God in Christ suffered on the cross.
He should remember that
the Lord does not reject people forever.
When he punishes, he also has mercy.
He has mercy because of his great love and kindness.
He does not enjoy causing people pain.
He does not like to make anyone unhappy.

Good morning
I never said christianity did not mean facing
suffering. I just said what you quoted me as saying re budhism.
There was a time chiefly back in the eighties
that i went to the budhist centre
meditated and did a retreat at Gaia house Devon.
It was beneficial . I had a friend interested in the same
who believed it was possible to be a Budhist and a Christian. I don t deny that (but never two theist religionsvb) but reckon beingChristian is best being kept central and needs to be. However iwould not reject the value of mindlfulness meditation for its value. In the same way i might practice a martial art such as karate which had eastetn cultural values.
