Title: I'm new
Post by: Joanna on May 08, 2015, 10:33:10 AM
Hello

I am glad I have found this site.  I'm naturally a universalist in my views. Up until the age of 16 I was brought up in a liberal Church of England church which didn't mention hell at all. I'm from England.   At aged 16 I was invited to an evangelical group which said if I wasn't saved I'd go to hell.  Since then I have been against the hell doctrine. I now go to a nice Methodist Church which doesn't teach hell But teaches the love of God.

Welcome Joanna! Your story fits with your name meaning, "God is gracious." Beautiful! Glad to have you.  :HeartThrob:

To me Christianity and church is about finding comfort and refuge in God from the troubles of this world and not about fear and punishment. It is lovely being a Christian if everyone is saved and you are not reminded of hell.

Welcome sister. You were blessed to have started out in a church that didn't preach about "hell" so you could know better when you went to one that did. I was raised in the Roman Catholic Church that not only taught about "hell" but also purgatory and limbo. I think all three places are false doctrine now, and I heard the church even got rid of limbo since I was in it. I left that church when I was young, and I tried the Protestant Church years later. But these days I don't belong to any church. I'm content to just be a member of the ecclesia, the body of Christ. I get most of my fellowship here on the forum and wherever else I can, but I don't know any like minded local believers. You'll find different opinions about various things here, but most folks believe in universal reconciliation.
