Hi, everybody.  :)

I've been over on another forum for a few months now trying to debate traditional hellfire/brimstone types.  We just can't seem to get past the arguments about "hell" over there.   I've joined Tentmaker in the hopes of debating and learning about more than whether hell is real or not.

I've been studying Universalism for about a year now, and the more I learn the more excited I get.  But, at the same time I feel guilt and fear fighting against so many millions of people, 2000 years of tradition, and my upbringing (Independent Baptist/Church-Schooled~~~though my family fell apart because of religion).

I just want to be around like-minded people, so I thought Tentmaker might be a good place to start.  I was getting rather tired and sad because of the subtle and not-so-subtle threats of burning and accusations of turning innocent souls into hell for eternity because of my UR posts (posters where I come from~~gung-ho traditionalists).  And I'm not quite sure I understand well enough to debate some of the posters over on the other forum.  As soon as I say something like, "aidios should have been used for eternity," they say I don't know Koine Greek.  I reply with, "the folks that have studied UR knew Koine Greek and have studied Greek Classics and understand how "aidios" and "aionion" would have been used."

:dontknow:

Tentmaker is probably a safer place for me right now, as I feel beaten down and discouraged from battling over on the other forum.  I was on the verge of giving up the Good News altogether, and I guess I was getting angry and flustered because my most basic posts were pooh-poohed and shoved off to the side as though they were satanic trash.

I do still have a lot to learn, though, and I'm so glad Tentmaker has a forum.  Hopefully, I can keep on fighting the good fight with some help from you guys.

I hear ya and completely understand.  While I'm not as certain about UR as some of the folks here I am convinced that the God we worship, the God who loves us agape doesn't torment anyone in hell for eternity.  I know about other communities and their hatred for UR.  I know how they will try to place fear of hellfire on you for even considering it.  But, accepting the truth is getting easier for me.  The fear is less.  But, I know those communities are toxic to my soul.  I refuse to participate in more spiritual abuse of believers.  I applaud your courage and welcome you to these forums.

I'm glad there are people I know from CD over here.  It makes it a little easier to join in when you know there are friends around.

I'm still thinking..... :sigh:

I got a little flustered trying to explain myself on City Data, so I am cooling off and working through some things in my mind at the moment.

Thanks for trying to encourage me.  :thanks:

There are only a few rules the crew actively moderates on. No personal attacks. No slandering of Father, Son and HS.
If you can stay within those guidelines you are on safe grounds.
Everyone, except me, makes confusing posts on this forum...
And when reading back my own posts I usally have no clue what I was trying to say  :Chinscratch:
So I think one more "confusing member" will fit in perfectly :laughing7:

Lefein

Welcome fellow pilgrim.

Shall we journey together on the straight and narrow, the King's road?  Passed the dogma, traditions, and religions of man onward to the Celestial city, where eventually...every child of Adam must dwell...For such it is with Adam, and his children, that everyone has a God sized void, and why should God ever let anyone starve?  Especially those who are the poorest in spirit, being so hungry, and so blind.

God is Love, and Love knows no end, not even til death do we part, for God died to give us all life, and abundantly.  Rest in comfort, your spiritual abusers will, like everyone else - including ourselves, come to a full knowledge of the Truth, which is our Lord and Saviour, the omnipotent Jesus Christ, who is the truth, the life, and the way.

*hugs*
