Is it that you do not believe in hell altogether, or that it is spiritual in nature rather than some physically literal place?

Paul, I don't believe in any kind of Hell.  At the minute I believe in annihilation, but I'd much rather believe in universal salvation.  I just haven't 'tested' it yet.  I've started reading an online book by a couple who are members here:

'Gods Plan For All' by David and Zoë Sulem.  First chapter seems very promising.  I'll try to read one a day, so I can let it sink in.
