I fancy myself a writer and this is one of my pen-names. :D

gatheredfragments

welll.....

Father has given me names through the years.  They come through the Holy Spirit in various ways.

This name "gatheredfragments" came while I was growing in Christ (like i'm done?)...and working in my current art project which will be showing for a full month in November in the local library.

God blessed me with talents.  And has me working off the dross of an incredible ego.  :mblush:....

gathered fragments is associated with 'mosaic' artwork....but...after that name was chosen...only a few days later i was nose in the Word and found that passage : Joh 6:12  When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

amen...that NOTHING be lost... :HeartThrob:

The bible "gathered fragments" is what came to my mind when I saw your user name.   :HeartThrob:

Cardinal

:cloud9: It's my name.....it's not a common one, so I figured no one would think it was a real name  :mblush: and they didn't.......when I first came online I was actually asked if I was a Catholic Cardinal  :mblush:  I never foresaw that one   :laughing7:

That's the FIRST thing I thought of :Sparkletooth: But don't worry, you are worth more than many cardinals (get it? sparrows/cardinals - oh, never mind!)

Not long after my rebirth I was reading some Christian numerology. I already knew '8' stood for 'a new beginning', but in this one place I saw:

"888 = Jesus Christ, the firstborn from the dead", and I thought it was really cool (gave be goosebumps)

:cloud9: Yeah, I guessed you were referring to the Hebrew/numerical equivalent of His name......kewl :) LOL

Hiya!

There is no great story behind my username lol. I chose it from one of the random nicknames that people have called me all my life. My real name is Sarah and sometimes I just get bored in using my real name

Hi Sazz. Here I am. See what you started?

Average_Bear

When I was a grad student at Wheaton College, I made up a business card - kind of joke really - which had  my contact info. Under my name I put Smarter than the Average Bear in honor of Yogi, my favorite above average bear.

gijane02

Hello all! I knew I had to respond to this one  I was still fresh in the army back in 2002. I was trying to think of a cool email name, so I was thinking of the movie GI Jane, the one with Demi Moore, and the year was 2002 at the time, 02. I have tried to think of other names to use on forums, but I will have this email name forever, and it's easier to remember than having a whole bunch of different ones! Also, those of you who were in the Military, you know it just kind of stays in you, so I'm keeping it in memory of that time.

Kratos

Kratos means dominion in the Greek. As a Kingdom man, I live to see the King's dominion expanded. I live to see all authority and power given to Him whose right it is. Thus, my favorite Bible verses:

Eze 21:25  And thou, profane wicked prince of Israel, whose day is come, when iniquity shall have an end,
Eze 21:26  Thus saith the Lord GOD; Remove the diadem, and take off the crown: this shall not be the same: exalt him that is low, and abase him that is high.
Eze 21:27  I will overturn, overturn, overturn, it: and it shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it him.

Quite coincidentally and long after I adopted the name. Playstation came out with a video game "God of War" whose main character I understand is Kratos, the Greek god of war sent to the earth to remove the darkness so the Light could shine. That works too.

John

ChuckK3

Well, I guess my username is self-explanitory, at least the "Chuck" part anyway.

My full name is Charles L. Knapp, III, which explains the "K" and the number 3.  On some forums, I'm known as CKnapp3, but I would like people to know my given name.  Otherwise they might call me CK3 or something like that. (am I a robot?  :laughing7:).  As for the suffix on my name, I usually use the Roman numeral 3, however some documents, like my driver's license for instance,  show the suffix in the ordinal number fashion (3rd).

jabcat

My initials are JAB.  When I was about 6 or 8 years old my older brothers and sisters were making up nicknames and one of them called me Jabcat.  I guess the 'cat' is because it was in the early-mid 60's, as in "cool cat", "Nashville Cat"....so I revived it now much later...

sparrow

I love wild birds..

One of my puzzle pieces to discovering the true gospel was regarding the sparrows...

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?" Luke 12.22-26

"Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the one who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows." Matthew 10.28-31

"My little sisters, the birds, much bounden are ye unto God, your Creator, and always in every place ought ye to praise Him, for that He hath given you liberty to fly about everywhere, and hath also given you double and triple rainment; moreover He preserved your seed in the ark of Noah, that your race might not perish out of the world; still more are ye beholden to Him for the element of the air which He hath appointed for you; beyond all this, ye sow not, neither do you reap; and God feedeth you, and giveth you the streams and fountains for your drink; the mountains and valleys for your refuge and the high trees whereon to make your nests; and because ye know not how to spin or sow, God clotheth you, you and your children; wherefore your Creator loveth you much, seeing that He hath bestowed on you so many benefits; and therefore, my little sisters, beware of the sin of ingratitude, and study always to give praises unto God."
Saint Francis of Assisi - c 1220

I SO love His creation...
It makes me cry how much I love it.
Just, everything... the birds, the trees, the little crazy bugs, the animals, the sky...

eirinikos

Mine simply means "peaceful" in Greek.

I got tired of using english words that a dozen other people already had taken, and being forced to use a bunch of numbers to make it work... so I found something nobody else really uses.

onlytruth

i guess im tired of being told what to beleive-i think i will wait upon the holy spirit and receive peace.if you ask for a fish will he give you a stone? :icon_king:

RoseOfSharon

Rose of Sharon refers to a flower that grew in the fertile, lush plain of Sharon along the Mediterranean Sea.  It's referenced in Solomon's Song of Songs 2:1-3.  The rose of Sharon is like a lily among the thorns (paraphrased).

I'm not sure if I'm the lily or sometimes the thorns! :angel4:

My real name is Sharon (although I go by Shari) and my mom sometimes called me the rose of Sharon.   :icon_flower:

Casstranquility

Hmm, my username is part of my name: Cass, (my name is Cassondra) and tranquility, which means peace-I wanted to be known as someone who is for peace, not necessarily someone who is peaceful  :laughing7:, though I would like to be.
I like my username because when people call me Cass, it's like they've known me a while and we are familiar.
Once, when I was writing my name in one of those 'name' lines, I wrote Casstranquility. Woops! It's a part of me now, and if you look for Casstranquility on google, it'll be mostly me-though I think there is another out there. I've been Casstranquility since 2002. I haven't needed to change it except on oprah . com, which wouldn't allow my username to be that long.

SeekerSA

Well when I came to tentmaker I had just had just had some bad run-ins at L.Ray's site and at the time I was looking at the ET perspective from an apologist that really did not have answers to my questions.  His site had b-t and tent listed as cults and used the links to get on both.

At b-t I used my name and recognized some names there and here.  So I chose Seeker but there was already one.  I added the SA which denotes South Africa where I hail from and it has stuck.

To prove UR I started defending it on ET forums and challenging it here.  I have shared that I essentially believed this way my whole life but thought I was cookoos.

Well as you all know me by now, the ET folk are really misguided and really had little biblical knowledge and they were easy to refute.  Had my share of near bannings and I was amazed how offended these folk were at the idea of the salvation of all mankind.

Probably what I have come to realise there is Christianity and there is American Christianity, the two are radically different as America now see themselves as the new Israel, being run by Zionists it is small wonder.

In SA, hell is not a hot topic and most churches I have been in espouse the goodness of God, here hell is more like a brother in prison, you do not talk about it much.

I came to my epiphany through Barry Smith an ETM rapture-ready evangelist from New Zealand and folk here helped me to unlearn the rapture and 2nd coming which were tenants I had picked up in the mainstream.  Back then 1998 was "the" predicted year and that came and went, well after 1998 in the church I was in there was a huge falling away.  Barry has passed on so he need no longer defend his predictions.  I must say that he held many other truths that are still part of my theology today.  He too was anti-American but more from the NWO standpoint.

Jack van Impe subsequent 2002 came and went and now most I guess kinda believe in the rapture with tongue in cheek.  See here we had back in 1994 the elections to black independence and of course the right wing churches that espoused the rapture doctrine had folk very much in an us and them.  We have outgrown that lie and now the reality is that we realise that color has nothing to do with the Kingdom.  Furthermore we have been in tribulation for awhile now and realise (at least I do) that the world marches on.

Well we with our Christian morals also did bad things in the name of the Lord so I guess there is no nation exonerated of this bigotry.  We are in a way blessed to have gone from a separatist mindset to inclusiveness in real life, and now we are in a mindset of tolerance, not fully there yet, but maybe that is why in SA hell is not necessary.  Our RL scenario is hell enough w/o the need for one hereafter.

Blessings

Wow! It's so neat that there are so many deep stories many people's usernames.  :HeartThrob:

blackwings

theres a band called 'lamb of god' (non-christian death metal) that have a song called11th hour, which deals with the attraction and dangers of alcoholism, and it has a line in it that goes 'take me under your black wings'
