and that He may send Jesus, the Christ appointed for you,

are there other Christs not appointed to them?  Or is it saying He's the one you've been waiting for, not the war-king you expected.

???

15 LORD thy God will raise up for thee a prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brothers, like me. Ye shall hearken to him

There where many preachers at that time.
1 Timothy 2:3-4  ...God our Savior;  Who will have all men to be saved...
John 12:47  And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Romans 4:5 But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous ...

:cloud9: My  :2c: There's a word in the Hebrew that translates as "divine appointment", which is what the feasts are called. We were appointed (or ordained to have) a divine appointment with Christ in Pentecost. Jesus/outer court/Passover, Christ/inner court/Pentecost, Lord/Holy of Holies/Tabernacles.

Quotethe Christ appointed for you

I love this.

I know the scholarly reading of this would be the message to the Jews that this is the foreordained Messiah spoken of in the OT, but when I read it, I see it as so personal--the Christ appointed for you--it is, as it always is with God, almost too good to be true--

the Christ appointed for you

that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,
--Acts 3:20 ESV

micah7:9

Act 3:20  and He may send Jesus Christ who before hath been preached to you, (YLT) no interpretation need.

There were no punctuation marks in the original writings. It could read just as easily

and that He may send Jesus the Christ, appointed for you

And that He may send Jesus, the Messiah, appointed for you.

Within the context of the rest of scripture and even these verses, I think it would be better translated as such

A few other translations did better than the NASB on this verse IMO

20  and that he may send the Christ, who has been appointed for you--even Jesus. NIV

20  and He may send Jesus Christ who before hath been preached to you, YLT

20 and that He sends יהושע Messiah, pre-appointed for you, Scriptures 98

In other words, this didn't just happen by coincidence y'all. YHWH had all this planned before y'all had a clue and in a coming appointed time previously planned and foreknown you will become the fulfillment of all you were called to be, a Lampstand to the nations under the guidance and loving authority of your Messiah- Jesus. This is the Dawn, the Full Noon Cometh!  :bgdance:
