Lazarus Short

I found out about the book, same title as the thread title, today...ordered a copy from "that" auction site.  Expect a review in due time.
Socrates taught Plato.  Plato taught Aristotle.  Aristotle tutored the son of Philip of Macedon.  This boy grew up to become Alexander the Great, largely by slaughtering a lot of people.  That's philosophy.

Jesus spoke the Truth.  He blessed the poor.  He healed the sick.  He even raised the dead.  He died on a cross for us, lived again, and came back long enough to tell us to love one another.  That's religion.

YHVH = Behold the Nail, Behold the Hand = Jesus

Looking forward to it.  :gimmefive:
3 John 4 - I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

The book arrived and then what should happen - I found the copy I had bought so long ago that I forgot about it.  I can't blame it on age, as I've pulling that kind of stunt for decades now... :sigh:

This is what I gleaned, having finished the book last night:

There are at least three versions of the Old Testament
1.  The Samaritan version
2.  The Egyptian version, which we know as the LXX
3.  The Babylonian version, which became the Masoretic OT

The Dead Sea Scrolls include both #2 and #3.

Jesus and His disciples quoted from #2.

Jerome made sure that #3 was the basis of his Latin version of the Bible, the Vulgate.  [I tell you, the more I find out about what has been done to the Bible, the less I use the term "translation" and the more I use "version."]

Jerome also pressed into the Canon Second Peter and Jude, which were at the time, of uncertain authorship, and considered by many to be writings to be argued against.  Why?  Because they promoted ECT.

Jerome also altered some of the writings of previous Church Fathers, to promote ECT and his new version.

The "Sola Scriptura" doctrine caused Jerome's changes to be passed down to Protestant groups.

So here we are today, with most Bibles based on Jerome's trickery.  The good news is that English translations of the LXX are available, and I want to get one.  We know that Bible versions without "hell" are available, and doubtful books can be ignored.

Perhaps most importantly, I think I know now what "Mystery Babylon" is.
