Like something out of Doctor Who or Star Trek, or perhaps Sliders.  Almost willing to bet that there will be pics online probably tomorrow at either one of the local newspaper sites or one of the local television channels.  I genuinely mean Biblically apocalyptic.  Nearly a zodiac type of significance (if that's the word I'm looking for), although it was shortly after 1pm.  Nearly every photographer's wet dream to have photos of a cloud formation like this.  Didn't have anything handy 'cause a camera's sorta the last thing that's been on my mind since the fire that burned my place down in January.  Was genuinely tempted to buy a disposable today 'cause it was that spectacular 'cause I wasn't near a camera store, but was near some grocery and drug stores.  Almost looked like some kind of chemical formation or clouds from another planet somewhere.

It's like the occasional dreamscape type of artwork that you see some artists do sometimes of their own version of a mythical whatever.  Posting 3 or 4 links really quick for folks to be on the lookout for any pics that come out of this weather we're having in Fort Worth, Texas.  I've seen interesting clouds all of my life, but this was almost Biblical if you catch my drift.  Fort Worth, Texas was THE place to be nearly 3hrs ago.  The clouds were like a multi layered velvet, almost volcanic type of formation, though they were bright white and totally surrounded by dark gray clouds.  No telling how big of a span it was.  Might have been visible in Dallas.  Basically 50% to 70% of the sky above me while I was outside, depending on when you were talking as it changed very very slowly over maybe an hour and a half or so.  I've seen something close to this, maybe once or twice previously, and I'm 34 years old.  Maybe.  But nothing as big with how much of the sky it filled.

Here's some links to keep an eye on in the morning as they're updating pics, news stories, etc. and if I bump into something specific, I'll try to add specific links or images to this thread.  If anybody got images of it, it'll likely be early March 26th, though it may be worth backing up to today, the 25th, if you bump into any specific pages that seem to be updated hourly or every two or three hours:

sounds very interesting, in fact fascinating,
and reminds me of a memory from childhood about the clouds, as follows:
When I was a young boy, actualy about 4 years old I remember during a thunder burst calling the clouds logs.
I said to my dad "look dad, look at the logs"
as I pointed at the clouds, he said "those aren't logs they are clouds"

The connection was that my father was a logger at the time, he had taken me out to the work site at that young age a few times and sat me on a stump a safe ways fom the timber the loggers were falling, every time
a tree fell it made a thunderous sound, so I was observant enough at that age to associate the sound of thunder with falling logs to that same sound in the clouds, but not able yet to explain to him why I called the clouds logs, it wasn't until years later I told him how I had come to call the clouds logs, he laughed as he recalled that time and then he said " maybe God sends the angels to go logging in the sky.

Peace,
Fire Walker

What's annoying is that the camera shots that I've seen so far have made 'em look a whole lot darker than they were and have teetered on making them out to have been Mammatus Clouds when they were closer to being caves in the sky with all kinds of colors and lights and the clouds seemed to extend inwards forever.  There were rolls and caves and more of the velvety than what I'm seeing in any of the pics that I've seen online so far.  Must have been taken with lousy cell phone cameras.  And it was 80% of the sky.  I can accept that I may have been directly under it and that from different areas of town you might have only gotten something half as spectacular, but still, I genuinely would have expected more to be online about it by now.  I'll have to keep on looking.

I'll adjust the exposure and post the adjusted versions.
It won't be more as an estimate as I don't have a reference.

I personally suspect a chemical reaction, even if they haven't identified it yet.  That was what was sooo eery about what was over Fort Worth a couple of days ago.  I told someone I was with that that looked chemical, though they didn't look -- at least from where I was standing -- like some of these other pictures of Mammatus Clouds.  I still remember very deep looking caves with all kinds of interesting lighting inside of them.  Perhaps some type of rainbow phenomenon going on with how light was reflecting off of both chemicals and water molecules that I was seeing.  Looked like a nebula at the edges of various superstring demensions.

I genuinely don't think that I was having any kind of spiritual experience or having either an angelic or Holy Spirit addition being added to what I was seeing, although I'm not closed to a testimony that I might hear of that having been a sign/wonder to someone related to something specific in their lives between them and God.  To me, it was almost a series of stable worm holes, but I know I was looking at rain clouds that were about to give some rain within the next hour or so of when I was seeing that.  If it weren't sooo bright in that spot where that was happening in the sky, I'd almost wonder about lighting from the city simply reflecting off of the clouds and mist.  Weird stuff at night is often simply city lights reflecting up into the sky.

Now, I do think that it was just clouds, if not clouds tained with a chemical or two.  I'm not saying it was anything more.  But what I saw was really wild. :mshock:
