Possessed woman in ambulance "She is going to hell"

So i was on facebook and came across this story http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3625256/She-going-HELL-Possessed-woman-lurches-forth-eyes-roll-screams-devil-voice-rushed-hospital.html

I know a lot of this kinda stuff is faked but it did seem plausible that it was not staged. But then i read a comment on facebook below the link that said...

"As a paramedic I witnessed this exact same thing. Did CPR on a guy for 20 mins. no signs of life, we stopped doing CPR he was just laying there dead. He suddenly rose up in bed and with an ET tube down his airway said "save me I'm going too hell"....this s*** is real."

Stuff like that rattles me but i know demons lie but it is still very unsettling even though i am a believer in UR.

Well, there could be several explainations. Demons; physical issues of the patient; they might experience something that they call Hell, but that doesn't mean it is hell, and so on.

You could interview those who said they saw hell and write a book. Those usually sell pretty well. Then, put a plug for UR in the epilog. Just kidding.

We could speculate, but I don't believe we could come up with an answer with any sure accuracy.

My view is that, a person's spiritual condition in this life is reflected in their experience in the immediate afterlife. Unbelievers who have these kind of experiences on the brink of death likely had something that was tormenting them in their conscience. If they feel a sense of horror right upon death, it may be because spiritually they are facing that which they were afraid or unwilling to confront during their earthly life. Since they're in the spirit realm rather than the physical realm, the hellish experience may feel no longer than a dream.

If you haven't already, I would recommend reading J Preston Eby's article "Hell" from his Savior of the World Series (http://www.kingdombiblestudies.org/savior/SOW1.htm#6). In the article, Eby writes,

"Here, for example, is a home in which one boy goes wrong, bears about with him a guilty secret he may not be able to tell the rest, and yet he must keep the dreaded company of his guilty, tortured self. Every time that boy hears the happy laughter of brothers and sisters rejoicing in the joy of the Lord, the fires of hell are burning in his heart."

I believe that this angst in one's heart is what some people are facing when they say they are going to hell in near-death situations.

I can vividly remember the night before my father died.  I really had no relationship with the lord at the time, but I remember feeling so sorry for my dad when he was close to the end.  He cried out to my mom that the devil was there waiting for him.  I had mixed thoughts about it, going between the hope that if he would only ask Jesus to save him that he would be okay, and the thought that this was just hallucination that I knew some people experience in the end.

I now have way different views on it all.  First of all I don't believe in a "devil" as an entity with horns and tail and that scary persona, that growing up I had imagined.  I am convinced that the torture that my dad experienced was a product of the mainstream Christian doctrine of Hell being ingrained into the mind of a defenseless child. Knowing what I know now, I can see the role that the devil really played in my dad's life, and how others are affected by the teachings of Hell and it's overseer, the devil.

Recently, a couple of verses in Hebrews 2 have come to mind often:
14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; 15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. 

I've become intolerant of teachings on Hell and "eternal torment".  A couple of months ago I decided to disassociate myself with the church I had been attending.  When I found out that the youth group outing that week was a trip to another church to watch a (famous) evangelism play called "Heaven's Gates, Hell's Flames", I decided that any headway I thought I may have been making in getting the U.R. message across was obviously in vain.  So I let the pastor and a couple of leaders know what I thought about this outing, and how I thought it could be about the most harmful thing they could do to these kids. (I think in my subconscious I was thinking about my dad's torment as a result of these same teachings)

I am very thankful for this site, and Gary, and all involved in keeping it alive.  I really think that God is using this site in his plan to expose the truth, as part of His refining process, that is, using 'the Tent' to cast death and hell into the lake of fire!

Amen! It is such a beautiful thing to know, and to have a full assurance of faith, that all will be reconciled and God will be all in all.

Pat, thanks for sharing that about your Dad. And I agree 100% about the reason why he went through what he did, which was religious teaching. We can't avoid it because it's everywhere and the only way to escape is to know the truth.
On another note, I still hope to make it to Anchorage sometime for that free lunch you promised, haha.  :laugh:
