I believe that the story of Joseph is another confirmation of the savior of all men in type and foreshadow. The focus of the story when taught upon is often on how he was sent ahead of his people to save his family and brothers, but very little attention is given to the reality of this salvation extending not just to the Israel of God, typified by the literal Jacob and sons, but also to all Egypt, as a type of the world.

Now there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very severe, so that the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan languished because of the famine.  14 And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, for the grain which they bought; and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh's house.

15 So when the money failed in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph and said, "Give us bread, for why should we die in your presence? For the money has failed."

16 Then Joseph said, "Give your livestock, and I will give you bread for your livestock, if the money is gone."  17 So they brought their livestock to Joseph, and Joseph gave them bread in exchange for the horses, the flocks, the cattle of the herds, and for the donkeys. Thus he fed them with bread in exchange for all their livestock that year.

18 When that year had ended, they came to him the next year and said to him, "We will not hide from my lord that our money is gone; my lord also has our herds of livestock. There is nothing left in the sight of my lord but our bodies and our lands.  19 Why should we die before your eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants of Pharaoh; give us seed, that we may live and not die, that the land may not be desolate."

20 Then Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh; for every man of the Egyptians sold his field, because the famine was severe upon them. So the land became Pharaoh's.  21 And as for the people, he moved them into the cities,[a] from one end of the borders of Egypt to the other end.  22 Only the land of the priests he did not buy; for the priests had rations allotted to them by Pharaoh, and they ate their rations which Pharaoh gave them; therefore they did not sell their lands.

23 Then Joseph said to the people, "Indeed I have bought you and your land this day for Pharaoh. Look, here is seed for you, and you shall sow the land.  24 And it shall come to pass in the harvest that you shall give one-fifth to Pharaoh. Four-fifths shall be your own, as seed for the field and for your food, for those of your households and as food for your little ones."

25 So they said, "You have saved our lives; let us find favor in the sight of my lord, and we will be Pharaoh's servants."  26 And Joseph made it a law over the land of Egypt to this day, that Pharaoh should have one-fifth, except for the land of the priests only, which did not become Pharaoh's. (Genesis 47:13-26)

I know I am just scratching the surface here, but the salvation for the Egyptians involved them ultimately paying more and more of a cost until they were total bondservants to Pharaoh (God). It is interesting to hear them say to Joseph as a type of Christ: "give us seed, that we may live and not die, and that the land may not be desolate."

I also love what Joseph says to his penitent brothers in Genesis 50:

Joseph said to them, "Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God?  20 But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.  21 Now therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones." And he comforted them and spoke kindly to them. (Genesis 50:19-21)

Our rejection by our brethren in the religious systems in ultimately meant for the good of the whole world, as these things are used for our refinement and conforming to the image of Christ.

You are totally correct!

BTW, did you know that just as Jesus the Christ's tomb was/is empty, the tomb of Joseph has been found in Goshen, and it, too, is empty.  Type meets antitype.
Socrates taught Plato.  Plato taught Aristotle.  Aristotle tutored the son of Philip of Macedon.  This boy grew up to become Alexander the Great, largely by slaughtering a lot of people.  That's philosophy.

Jesus spoke the Truth.  He blessed the poor.  He healed the sick.  He even raised the dead.  He died on a cross for us, lived again, and came back long enough to tell us to love one another.  That's religion.

YHVH = Behold the Nail, Behold the Hand = Jesus

Very interesting Lazarus (who had an empty tomb too at one point!)  :Peace2:

  Dear Shev
You have made the direct and valid point
that the elect and chosen of God were always hated by the world and mocked and mistreated    and    harmed   by those whom are supposed to ''embrace them ''

they are the  ones sent to  Blast the  warnings and   save the DAY !!     the ones we are told to listen to  , in order to   keep from the impending judgment to come

Every prophet sent was   LIKE JESUS CHRIST in His generation      sent  by the HOLY SPIRIT    witness     and the WORD   of GOD   to repent
Now we have Jesus Christ in those whom are to come in His name    , they also will be scourged and mocked and made fun of and  mistreated

no Different than Jesus was and KILLED      by the message sent     ,  Come in  to the fold or receive the judgments
and they ALL   will reap what they  sow

The same suffering they     gave  , they also will receive      , till they realize what they have done   !!

their eyes will see what they have done  on whom they pierced

what did those brothers do when they realized what they done to Joseph ?

I agree with you its all about FORGIVENESS        and making those   humbled and ashamed for what they have done !!!

Genesis 5015 And when Joseph's brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, It may be that Joseph will hate us, and will fully requite us all the evil which we did unto him.

16 And they sent a message unto Joseph, saying, Thy father did command before he died, saying,

17 So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the transgression of thy brethren, and their sin, for that they did unto thee evil. And now, we pray thee, forgive the transgression of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him.

18 And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we are thy servants.

19 And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God?

20 And as for you, ye meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.

21 Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.

22 And Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his father's house: and Joseph lived a hundred and ten years.

Jesus on the Cross was  said FORGIVE THEM FATHER for they know not what they do !!

This is how the Lamb of God takes away the sin of the world     !

every eye  shall see Him  and mourn in humility and even be ashamed   for the sin of their nakedness  !! Rev 1 ;17

6and He has made us to be a kingdom, priests to His God and Father-- to Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

7 BEHOLD, HE IS COMING WITH THE CLOUDS, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him;

and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen.

8"I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty."

Jesus is the reward  !!
