Here is something to ponder. If we use a male as an example of the mind and a female as an example of the heart, we can see the interaction between the two in the examples in Scripture.

A wicked heart knows the weakness of the mind, it is to cut short thought, in other words, a wicked heart says "just do it, don't think about it". How do we know this to be true? Just look at the example of Samson and Delilah, she being the heart, Samson being the mind, and his hair being the example of long thought. Find out the secret of the strength of the mind and cut them short. Long thought (long suffering) is the strength of the mind, but if those thoughts are not believed, they can easily be cut off and die. Thus, the mind has to be good ground for the seeds of thought to grow. Otherwise they fall by the wayside and the fowls (desires of the wicked heart) come and devour them up.

Why do you think those who believe in ET won't believe in UR, their own heart lies to their own mind telling them "it is not true", therefore it is cut off and dies. When self-righteous desire (which comes from the heart) wants to raise itself above thought (which comes from the mind), that in itself is why we understand the adversary (Satan/wicked heart) trying to raise himself above God/mind.

This example can also be seen in Eve in the garden, a desire of the heart (to be made wise) raised itself above a thought (you will die) because she believed a lie, (you won't die)

I will give you a new heart (virgin/pure heart out of which Christ is born)..... one that will not cut short the thoughts of God which is where the renewing of the mind takes place, getting rid of all those lies the old heart told.

And if you believe it, the old covenant was an age of the mind with law (to kill the desires of a wicked heart) , the new covenant is an age of the heart with grace (to kill the thoughts of a wicked/carnal mind), both now working together as one, both maturing together, with both submitting to each other, like in a marriage, but neither being able to be fulfilled by either a mind or heart of the flesh nature.

And of course, some of you will think I'm nuts, but it all makes sense to me.

And how terrible if we had only one.. male but no female or female and no male :mshock: OR, mind and no heart.. or heart and no mind.. I don't know which would be worse!

:Chinscratch: it's interesting to me that the heart is "sealed" by God's Spirit, first.. and the mind (which I take to be what is signified by the "sealing upon the foreheads" in Rev 7, of 144,000 of Israel and(?) an unable to be numbered crowd from every nation, tongue and tribe)

Your example and allegory does not sound "nuts" (to me anyway  )

I like your thoughts, what can the heart do without the mind? imo nothing. For me the heart pumps the blood that keeps me alive in my physical body. My mind on the other hand will produce only death(as we see with Eve) without the mind of Christ. I believe the heart/mind must work together and are the same. :2c:

When a word or statement enters our spirit, then according to what the mind knows about it and what the heart feels about it ..... it either dies because the mind and heart have made a judgment in agreement that they do not like it

OR

the word or statement is given life because the mind and heart have made a judgment in agreement that they like it

If it is something new that has not been heard before, the mind and heart can be in conflict about it ..... take UR for example (in other words, the salvation of all), the mind and heart can be in conflict because the mind may believe it is good that all will be saved (made a judgment that it is good) but the heart overrules and rejects the judgment of the mind, this overruling is due to its own desire ..... because that means that all sinful men will receive the same thing that they will .....

Which brings us to the parable of the vineyard in that all receive the same amount, with the heart, it comes down to desire and it wants more than another (which is greed) because it feels it has done more

Which also leads us to the statement by Christ "This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth(I follow Jesus), and honoureth me with their lips (the salvation of all would be a good thing) but their heart is far from me (rejects the salvation of all)" Matthew 15:8

Also "He answered and said unto them, "Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me" Mark 7:6

What is a hypocrite, someone who believes the salvation of all would be a good thing but rejects it because of its own desires, even the desire to not admit they might be wrong, which is pride
