Well, how do I know if I'm saved? I mean, the passage in Matthew where Christ says, go away I never knew you- how can I know for sure? God talks to me, but I don't know if I'm saved- how do I know?

That passage in Matthew simply says to do what He tells you to do, to uh....avoid those complications to the relationship :happy3:

Remember the Mary and Martha story where Jesus said that only one thing is needful?

Colossians 2:6-7 says:

6As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
7Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

Do you believe and have faith that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?
That he was born of a virgin, intentionally went to the cross to make Himself a ransom for our sins, died, and on the third day came back to life?
That He now sits at the right hand of the throne of God, knows who you are, and intercedes for you if you have faith in Him to do so? Do you recognize that you are a sinner, want to turn away from your sinfulness (which we're all full of) and turn to Christ instead?
Jesus knows our hearts, especially when we let Him into our heart. Those who He will say "I never knew you" to (and that may have just been an allegory on His part) would be those who put on a big show of religion, but never had or did any of the above. Jesus wants a relationship with you. That is that bottom line. You can become the next Mother Teresa, and it won't matter beans to Jesus, compared to having a relationship with Him. There are those who do things in the name of Jesus, because the name carries power. Some business put "Jesus fishes" in there adds just to sucker people into trusting them for instance. But they never end up doing things with Jesus. That's why He "doesn't know them".
Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be immediately opened.
I think maybe only people who are saved are capable of worrying about being saved (been there myself). What you (and I) need to do, is keep getting to know Jesus better and better. It's a life long process - but not something you can flunk, if your faith and belief is sincere. Remember; everything, and I mean everything comes in as a very distant second to Jesus, compared to you having a relationship with Him.
