Hell increases God's glory and other morbid stuff

I can understand why many believe in hell. There are verses that on the surface possibly teach hell.

I've read articles that claim that the suffering in hell increases God glory. That He together with the saved watches those in hell for entertainment.
What verses are they basing that belief on?

I'm pretty sure this comes from the story of the rich man and Lazarus once again - we are told, after all, that Abraham and Lazarus could see the rich man in agony, and appear to not care terribly much about his plight.

But God isn't cheering in that parable. Neither did Abraham make fun on the Rich man.
Neither does the parable state that Lazarus feels even better when he sees the RM suffering.

Well, yes - I'm pretty sure that part is just a desperate extrapolation in an attempt to reconcile the eternal torment of the damned with the conscience of the saints.  I at least don't think there's any verse in the Bible specifically describing the saints taking pleasure in the the agony of the damned, not that I can recall at any rate.

1 Tim. 4:1-5  --  The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.


What could be more demon-like than that?
What is maddening and even MORE telling is people point their fingers at universalists, foam at the mouth and proclaim that God saving ALL and having mercy on ALL of the beings that HE brought into existence... "IS DEMON-LIKE! Doctrine of demons!!!!!"

Woe to those who call good "evil"... and evil "good".

Yes I'm convinced 1 Tim 4:15 includes all those who believe ET.

I've seen some references to verses like these:

Psalm 37:13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked,
       for he knows their day is coming.

Proverbs 1:26 I in turn will laugh at your disaster;
       I will mock when calamity overtakes you

Luke 6:21 Blessed are you who weep now,
      for you will laugh.

Since God will be laughing and mocking the wicked, it stands to reason He'll be laughing and mocking them while they are in hell for eternity.  And of course the faithful will get to join in.

Similar to the ideas of God "hating" people for eternity.  If God hates people for eternity, those who are saved in heaven will also get to hate people for eternity.  They'll all sit around having a good old hatin' time laughing and mocking at those fools in hell.

That's the quality of character they think God is looking for I guess.   :sigh:

Here are several more verses that, in context, indicate that God or "the Righteous" Laugh when others "get theirs". 

Job:22:19: The righteous see it, and are glad: and the innocent laugh them to scorn.

Psalms:2:4: He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

Psalms:52:6: The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him:

Psalms:59:8: But thou, O LORD, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision.

Also, if God will turn all tears into laughter, how else could heaven's occupants respond if they could indeed "see" the suffering of those in hell? :sigh: 

Here is a couple of simple tests:  Do these verses sound like the Jesus who prayed for the forgiveness of those who were torturing and killing Him? NO, of course not! Are these verses consistent with 1 Cor 13?  NO, again.  That's two witnesses – Jesus and Paul.  Finally, and most importantly, what is God's Spirit saying to you?

Personally, I wouldn't spend another moment worrying about these verses – but that's just me.

It's not about worrying. I want to know how they fit with UR. I'm don't want to read the Bible selective and ignore the hard stuff.
