God makes sense

One thing I have encountered with ET that is noteworthy, is that owing to the various contradictions in God's character that would be implied by that doctrine, they have to lean rather heavily on God not being supposed to "make sense", because of His ways being higher than our ways. So for instance, if one were to point out the strangeness of Christ commanding us to forgive our enemies that we might be perfect like our Father while hell awaits so many, or comment on the incongruity of a being of pure Love tormenting others ceaselessly, it is met with the same excuse.

Now, there is a sense in which we do not have full revelation, full apprehension, or full manifestation of Jesus Christ and the Father, but this does not have to do with "making sense" as much as a mystery being unveiled. One might say a spiritual "sense" that is growing within us. But everything we know about God and His Christ does make sense in the literal meaning of the term, and harmonizes together. After all, in this context, there is only "sense" and "nonsense", and one is far desirable over the other!

To me this is one of the many key areas of discussion. If God is revealing Himself to us through Christ, should not His plan be cohesive, well planned and beautiful, as the rays of spiritual illumination rise upon it like the sun? And has He not already fully revealed His nature IN Jesus Christ, so that the marvelous wisdom and boundless mercy of His plan might be embodied in His beloved only begotten? The plan reflects the planner, and shows His divine goodness in complete perfection.

I remember a long-ago co-worker who was agnostic, but raised Catholic.  He said he was told in Catholic school that he didn't have to understand it, just believe it.  ET involves too many unanswered questions, but UR answers almost all of them.

God makes more sense than man's attempts. Would be why Paul says the wisdom of man is foolishness and why God has deliberately used Christ crucified to confound the Jews and the Greeks.

1 Cor 1;27-31 " But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise;
and God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong;
and God chose the things the world considers insignificant and contemptible and regarded as nothing to render useless the things that are so that no one can boast in the presence of God.
But you are of Him in Christ Jesus, Who became for us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that as it is written,
         ' Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord.'

I.M.O this seems to be telling us to change our values from self-righteousness, and self-gain, to be like Jesus who gave up everything for us. After all the things in this age are temporary.
The history of wars are usually about some "pet hate" or jealousy of power which has caused assassinations of kings/queens.
Love of money causes many problems.
True love would wipe out these issues.
After all perfect love casts out all fears.

As you say, Shev, grasping the depth of the love is making more sense to what our destiny is all about and where we will be in the glorious future.

It's all in His Word.. the sWord of truth.. I'm ashamed I don't know it better than I do.. (in speaking, the sWord is the power.. with the wine of course.. the Spirit.) How happy any of us can be to not be saturated in the doctrines (fancies) of men.. no matter what they are.. "O Lord keep falsehood and lies far from me.."

I've heard that a lot.. the questions and the loose ends are always a mystery or a paradox..

That is very true.. (funny how this world is based on money) ...What a contrast His kingdom/design will be.

a God of logic.. and reason.. mercy, love.. Perfect (makes no mistakes) I believe He has done everything just the way He has, in order to bring about the absolutely best thing possible. ..the best, and keep it that way!

Every person, ultimately, is a jewel. Perfection cannot lose.. anything. If He were not perfect, He too would not endure. ("The wages'result of "missing the mark" is death"/nonlife. He can only be perfect.)

I do think that we always need to remember that we cannot fit God into the human version of 'making sense'.

Rather, we need to learn to look at things from God's point of view, not an earthly one.

But, as this is not always possible, as we are human and He is God, then we must rely on faith and the wisdom the Holy Spirit will give us to be able to discern and have wisdom, to understand.

Reading the Word of God is also an essential element, I believe.

And then, we need to let God be God.

I, too, was raised Catholic. The RC Church officially teaches that scripture can only truly be interpreted by a RC priest, and no other. Therefore, Catholics were (hopefully this has changed, practically, if not theoretically) taught to believe the priests, and not listen to God, as that was not considered something that actually happens,.......that our God communicates to us, directly.

Thank goodness, I was taught by nuns that really didn't buy into that......I believe they knew God spoke directly to them, and I am no longer Catholic, anyway, and now I have learned to listen to just one voice, not perfectly, but I am able to 'hear' my Good Shepard and to know His voice. I do go to church.....love to go......and I know there are godly people out there, but there is only one true Shepard to listen to and to understand.

Ephesians 5;1 says to imitate God. Man not mentioned here.

Galations 1;15-17 " But when God, Who had set me apart from my mothers womb and called me by His grace, was pleased to reveal His Son in me so that I might preach Him among the Gentiles,

nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were Apostles before me;
but I went away to Arabia and returned to Damascus."

1 Cor 3;7 " So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God is the one Who gives the growth."

2 Cor 1;21,22 " Now God is the One Who strengthens us, together with you, in Christ and has anointed us, and Who has sealed us and GIVEN us His Spirit in our hearts as a pledge."

Emphasises the work of Christ which really sets us free from the fear of failure or rejection.
Highlights why the plan had to be specific so as to have no margin of error.
"Before the world began I knew you"   is one incredible statement. Take out the fear of hell and then this I.M.O is a plan of inspiration with rewards through the faith of Christ.
