Often it's assumed God's plan of the ages spans 7000 years.
A generation is 40 years.
(Deuteronomy 7:9) Know therefore that LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, who keeps covenant and loving kindness with those who love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations,
That would mean 825 generations will follow the 7000 years.
Or the 7000 years are preceded by 825 generations.
We have a few ages coming up after this one, at least two.
We have our work cut out for us.
40,000 years, wow. Maybe I should take it a little slower. :laughing7:

That's assuming we are to take a thousand generations as literal. Some believe the thousand merely means an indefinite quantity. Others believe it means the totality of the generations.

True. But without that my post would have been just that verse. Then nobody would have understood what the post was about.
QuoteIt's my understanding that most people in ancient times we lucky to see their twenty-fifth birthday.
True, but many must have lived longer. They married/bethoted very young. Let's say 15. If the parents died at 25 it would mean a world filled with 10 year old orphans.
Those numbers are likely averages. Lots of babies died in their 1st year. That's bad for the averages. Priests had to be 30 years. Obviously the high priest was much older. Even the father of the high priets that sentences Jesus was still alive. Some of the 12 lived quite long.
(Psalms 90:10) As for the days of our years, in them are
seventy years; and if men should be in strength,
eighty years; and the greater part of them would be labor and trouble; for weakness overtakes us, and we shall be chastened.

But still Jesus implied some of His audience would see the Romans destroying teh Temple 40 years later. In Genesis many people lived 600+ years.
But let's take your 25 or even 20 years. That would still be 20000 years. That's 13,000 years beyound 7,000

Good point , Shawn.
Now the question is what "like" exactly means. Unquantified number?
1 day obviously never can be a 1000 years. But in God's "plan of the week" it looks like that.
There seems to be at least some support for the 1 day is exactly 1000 years idea. If we take Bishop Usher's 6000 years calculation:
Adam - year 0 - Sunday
Babylon - year 1000 - Monday
Ten Commandments or Abraham recieving the 1st Convenant (Sorry, can't remember) - year 2000 - 40th Jubilee - Tuesday
Jesus Ministry - year 4000 - 80th Jubilee - Wednesday
Jesus return - year 6000 - 120th Jubilee. - Saturday
(Genesis 6:3) And LORD said, My spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he also is flesh. Yet shall his days be a hundred and twenty years.
If Jesus returns in the year 6000 and rules a 1000 years it means He rules the 6th day. Saturday. Sabbath.
(Luke 6:5) And he said to them, The Son of man is lord also of the Sabbath.
120th Jubiliee = 10x12 = Perfection of divine order x Perfection of government. Or 3x40.

Of course nothing can be proved as a fact until it actually happens; but imo the above shows the 1 day=1000 years theory has several Scriptual witnesses.
WW, that was very interesting. Do you think man was given 6000 years or 7000 thousand years on earth?
You mentioned 40000 years, could it be this is after the 6 or 7000 thousand years are up? Are you saying we have been given 40000 years? Can't find the verse. Maybe it doesn't even exist because it's just a concept in my mind...
Doesn't the Bible state man is given control over earth for a set time?
I think 6000 years for man. 1000 years for Jesus.
After those 7000 years we stay on the new earth.
I think New Jerusalem is a super-sized Holies of Holies. Nothing sure yet but the ratios's seems to match.
Obviously we stay on earth. Would be weird that after all that time God decents to Earth and we leave earth :happy3:

The way I read it the 7000 years are part of the 40000 years.
Depending on who calculates you get your new body between 5-15 years from now.
The main question is this: Are the remaining 33000 years after these 7000? If yes it means many childeren will be born after you get your new body. Maybe you get a 1000 babies :icon_king:
But they also could be before the 7000 years. I can't help wearing my secualr thinking cap once in a while. 40000 years ago is the estimate for the first human.

But, it depends how much I can lean on ww to shorten his calculations.
What do you think?
1 October 2016 5:11 JST - Jubilee year - Jewish new year
... 7 years pass
24 September 2023 - Sabbath year - Atonement day - 70 jubilees after entering Caan
29 September 2028
I'm still not able to align all calculations. That's the only thing I can say with 100% certainty

Psa 90:9-10 For all our days have declined in Your fury; We have finished our years like a sigh. As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years, Or if due to strength, eighty years, Yet their pride is but labor and sorrow; For soon it is gone and we fly away.
If a generation refers to the normal length of a lifespan, I would say 70-80 years is a possibility. Since the people Jesus was talking to when he said, "This generation will not pass away........."- were alive and had been for some period of time, for instance, Jesus was about 30- then 40 more years (until Jerusalem was razed) would make 70. Just thoughts.
There are various defenitions for generations Maybe lifespan is one of them. That would be 70-80 years as you wrote.
Another defenition is the age women gets her first child. Around 16 at that time.

Jesus said this generation will not pass away. 40 years later the Temple was destroyed. Obviously 40 years is within a 70 year lifespan....
At the end of the 40 year Exodus almost none of the original people were still alive.
All very confusing. But even if we take the very minimum of 12 years a 1000 generations if more than 6000/7000
Obviously if we use your 70-80 year suggestion there are far more "missing years".
I know many here don't believe in numbers. No strict meanings because words like "like" in a verse. I think such reasoning is just an easy way out.
Why would this number be just some poetic way of writing while so many other numbers (date ranges) have an accuracy of a day over sometimes century long periods. Or 5 "pattern hits" in a 18 day range.
This thread (http://www.tentmaker.org/forum/lounge/development_an_unborn_baby_compared_jewish_feasts_10074.0.html) only gives only a part of the patterns I found.

QuoteFlynn explains: "The Romans had fixed the birth of the city of Rome and the Empire in 753 B.C. It was believed that the patriarch of the city, Romulus, had marked out the boundaries for the wall of Rome in this year. Known as Ab Urbe Condita (literally, from the founding of the city) the Roman calendar began with 753 B.C. according to the dating of Marcus Terentius Varro (116–27 B.C.) who lived at the time of the Empire itself.
I think that's about correct.
Jesus was born 3BC after that the traveling "star" of Bethlem began. Acutually it was set of planest in weird alignments.
In 3 BC Augustus celebrated his 25th anneversery. Also in that year the 750th birtday of Rome was celebrated. The census was citzen of Rome honoring August's new title "Father of the country". That included real Romans as well as important peopel from conquered countries. (Jesus' mother was from an extremly wealthy family.)
They assumed their gods blessed them with the signals the planets gave.

How about 30 being the # for HIS BLOOD, Redemption~ 30 silver coins of Judas who betrayed HIM~ the price of the
Field of Blood
And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.

Mat 27:8 Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.

So according to the most pessimistic calculations (which, surprisingly enough, were presented by me) we only have ~1½ years left before the **** is going to hit the fan.
The question is: what should we exactly do? Pray a lot and hope for the best? Stock up toilet paper for 7 years? I'm clueless upon things of this magnitude. I'm only able to deal with tragedies like a loss of job, a break-up etc... but this is a bit too much. I really do not know.

:cloud9: Not sure of what you are looking for with the 30 reference, but 30 relates to the lunar cycle, which relates to the law, as the law is "governed" over by the moon, the lesser glory, ie. all feasts, ect. are connected to the moon in it's cycles.
Which in turn, is why a woman (the lesser glory) has the same cycle, and why a "menstrous woman" was a Hebrew idiodem for idolatry. Because, if she was menstrous, it meant she didn't produce the son (get pregnant) and why barrenness was a curse.
Which also relates to the 30 pieces of silver (moon appears silver) and the 30 fold realm; He knew such as should betray Him. :mshock: Blessings....

Well, on Thursday I was scanning the paper for spiritual meetings in my area. I found there's an event called "From Broken To Whole" at certain prayer house. It was in the opposite end of the city (iow. about an hour away), but as I found the theme interesting, I decided to go anyway.
After some hymns and Bible reading it was the time for prayer. I requested prayer and told I'm feeling very uncertain about the future, and that I'd like to receive some wisdom on how to go about things. So, a woman laid her hands on me and started praying. I was extremely surprised at the things she said. She saw two visions about me with her spiritual eyes. In the first one I was carrying a torch and marching. A lot of people were following me. I was going forward (possibly leading people into a battle) with braveness and determinaton, without any fear. In the second one she saw me as a small child, sitting on the floor surrounded by unopened presents. Then I started opening the presents one by one. I was being extremely delighted, as I was receiving the kind of presents I thought I'd never get. The intercessor explained the presents were spiritual gifts. Then she said she sensed I should read about Gideon in Judges (very unsure of himself, lesser tribe of Manasseh, weakest clan in tribe, least in father's house, but chosen to deliver Israel), for my situation was very similar to his. She said I'm going to have a big role in God's future plans and that God is going to change my life in a totally unimaginable way.
Like I said, I was very surprised at what I heard. My initial thoughts were something like: "well... Father, I'm flattered and all, but I'm not sure about this whole torchbearer thing. How I'm supposed to pull it off? How about if I just continue playing bass guitar in the worship band, and you go find someone more competent for the job?" As if the intercessor had read my mind, she continued with "You're not going to pull it off. Not on your own. But with God, everything is possible. God is going to do it through you."
I left the place feeling greatly relieved. All this "end of the eon" stuff still concerns me, but now at least I believe I'm in good hands.

So Jacob blessed the boys that day with this blessing: "The people of Israel will use your names when they give a blessing. They will say, 'May God make you as prosperous as Ephraim and Manasseh.'" [Gen 48:20]

In thinking about this 40,000 year plan, I wonder how many people God has planned to be born before he returns. Just the other day I heard there were 7 billion people, I think it was, on the earth. Surely there is something in the bible that points to this? WW, have any numbers?

:cloud9: PTL! Aleax, Deborah's husband's name means "firebrand" or "torch". The other place this word is used is in the torches put in the EARTHEN vessels of Gideon before they stormed Jericho. Good word!

Found it. It takes the egg 30 hours to decsent.

If it's in the Bible I don't have have no clue were it can found. Not even a vague hint. 7 billion now; but how many since creation?
A rough estimate is 108 billion. http://www.prb.org/Articles/2002/HowManyPeopleHaveEverLivedonEarth.aspx
Maybe we should look backward in time; not forward?
On that site the count starts 50,000 BC. If a generation is 50 years we arrive at that date. Or that date should be 40,000.
What if man existed long before Eden but the Bible starts telling about mankind when God put Adam in the garden. "Put" sounds like God picked up Adam somewhere and place him in the garden.
Genesis 2 [ASV]
8 And Jehovah God planted a garden eastward, in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

Nobody did keep the convenant 40000 years ago; simply because there was no convenant back then. So the 1000 generations start long after Adam.

Since all nations will be blessed through Abrahams seed and his children will be as many as the sand on the sea(?) or the stars in the heavens(?)- I would say the ultimate quantity is nearly innumerable.
However, regarding the ages past, I read it that God formed Adam, the first man, from the dust of the earth. Then He put Adam, the man He had formed in the garden of Eden.
I think Paul read it that way to. "Since through
one man's transgression sin entered the world and death through sin, and
thus death spread to all men because all sinned"(Romans 5). Personally, I don't think anyone has received a revelation that transcend Paul's, nor an understanding that penetrates the scriptures, and the heavenly mysteries, more than he, the wise master builder, the foundation layer, the third heavener. I think Adam was one man, the first man, and the first man to sin and die. Whatever transpired in the previous ages, did not involve men.

Well, on Thursday I was scanning the paper for spiritual meetings in my area. I found there's an event called "From Broken To Whole" at certain prayer house. It was in the opposite end of the city (iow. about an hour away), but as I found the theme interesting, I decided to go anyway.

...assumng you can trade it for food at a good price when needed.
if there is ever a major breakdown in society as is being inferred, I would stock food, water, and bullets. And by would I mean I have, although not many bullets. If you're a pacifist, or whatever, just think what happens when the grocery stores or mcdonalds run out of food, and people are hungry for the first time in their lives, thus the need for protection.
At that point gold and silver will likely be pretty worthless, except to those who think society would return to its normal.

A good defence is barbed wire around the garden and house, to stop thieves breaking in.
Silver and gold would be used to trade for food. But the best use of silver and gold would be to wait for currency stabilization and trade it when things return to normal or changed/normality, if that makes sense.
Buy when blood is running in the streets.
While it's a recipe for wealth you need to be wealthy to take advantage of it. Most people don't have that kind of money. Food gets extremely expensive, even when paid with gold.
I think MREs (and similar) are worth considering.
If my lamp is full of oil, and I have ears to hear, I will satnd or fall as the Lord leads. If I can't, well a gun might help one way or another I guess :laughing7:
